Its the 21st Century Toys Bf-109. Picked it up at Wal-Mart for $10. I spent more on paint and and supplies than the kit[:P]
Great job, and nice work on the desert weathering too! I picked up multiples of each offering in the 21st Century kit line, and agree that the kits aren’t half bad, especially for the small price paid.
And BTW, if a toy company like 21C can include the Swastika decals (regardless of whether the box art includes them re: national laws etc.) then why can’t all of the major kit companies?! This is an issue that really gets my goat! [soapbox]

I mixed and matched markings due to the fact that I forgot to paint the stripe aroud the aft part of the fuselage,[#oops].Anyway< I wanted something different as far as aircraft colors went. Next to my S-3A its the brightest plane I’ve got now![8D]

I have Tamiya and Hasegawa kits of German aircraft that come with the correct insignia, so major companies DO supply them. Only companies that kowtow to German Political Correctness have taken them out, since Germany forbids the ownership, use and display of Nazi symbols. Which strikes me as every bit as wrong as the Nazi’s anti-semitism. I suppose they are trying to show that they aren’t Nazis anymore, but hiding the skeletons in the closet is no better than having them in the first place.
Sorry to have delved into politics, but I thought it was a pertinent question.

Great looking '109! I am building a 109E Trop kit right now, and was wondering what technique you used to paint the whitewalls on the tires. I am still trying to decide how to approach this. TIA

Daywalker, I actually didn’t paint the whitewalls. I looked at some photos and it looked like the steel wheels to me so I just real careful like painted the wheels a dirty steel color without masks. I got kinda lazy on that part! Oh well. Again, guys thank you for the kind words![#toast]
Good looking 109. Not a bad little kit apparently and oyu did a good job on it.
Nicely done 109 klem. You didn’t do a bad job on that weathering. I like that you got some oil staining on the botom as the 109’s were oil leakers. paint chipping looks excellent even over the decals. That brown look great not too yellow. One thing I noticed is that type of prop was not metal and would not show metal chipping.
now I have a question. On the box what type of 109 does it claim to be? this is no fault on your part as you built it strait out of the box, but that 109 is suffering from an identity crisis. It has features of both a bf109F-4Z/trop ,an early bf109G-2/trop. and even a G-6 (DF loop moran antenna mount?). the marking seem to suggest it’s a F-4. I am asking because I was planning on building a F-4 special which is close to a F-4Z, which your bird seems to be a better starting point for and would require far less work then to modify a hasegawa 109G. For that price you can’t knock it, it really builds into a nice model despite some accuracy problems.
BTW your pics are excellent very clear and that was why I was able to see all the detail.
Thanks for info. Now I feel like a dummy. I didn’t know about the propeller not being metal. I’ll have to fix that. I don’t usually do WWII aircraft, in which case I didn’t really do any research on it. What was the prop made of so I can correct this flaw? According to the box top it is Bf-109F2/F4. I knew it was going to be a confused bird when I started it so I invoked my creative license[:D]

all in service fw190’s and bf109F’s foward had a wooden prop covered in a canvas/resin. E’s I know had steel props. when the prop chipped it usually was a gray to wood color depending on the depth of the chip. No reason to feel dumb I just bring it to your attention. know alot about this specific aircraft. Most probably would not pick up on that, besides it’s looks great. I myself use the creative license all the time even when I know it may not be completely accurate, there’s nothing wrong with that. It all depends on what the builder want to portray.
Now I know I need to find a 21 century 1/32 bf109F2/4. It will make alot less work on my part convert this example to what I want vs what I would need to do to a hasegawa kit to get it there. thanks for the info Klem.
