My Tamiya M1A1 HA

Here is my OOB M1A1 from Tamiya. I build and finished this about 10 days prior to finding out that there is a non-slip surface on the Abrams, but not on the Tamiya kit. Gives me an excuse to build another one, I guess!

Looks like a very nice, very clean build to me!
Great work!

Isn’t that always the case? We never find out stuff like that until it’s too late. At any rate, its a really nice clean build.

Thanks guys. Yep, always the way. I thought about trying to add it, but I was afraid that the masking I would need to do would lift the paint (I have had problems occasionally with the acrylic paint lifting when I mask, no matter how much I wash the parts)

looks great anyway, nice weathering.

Looks great!

I never even noticed what the anti-slip stuff was until after I finished my Hobby Craft Abrams. Luckily mine had it molded on!

Now thats the right attitude. LOL!!!

I plan to try to do another Tamiya with a Mr. Surfacer antislip. Just a matter of time (and convinsing the wife I need to do another. Tried explaining it to her, but she wasn’t getting it)

The M1 looks great. As if we need another excuse to buy more models… [:D] Good luck convincing your wife.

I definitely don’t need any excuses. Heck, if she doesn’t see the light, I will just sneak it into the house. She’ll never know!

I can’t see the big pics on your site for some reason, but from the little pics it sure looks nice! You might want to consider the Trumpeter M1A2 if you are going to rebuild – $17.00 and it has the no-slip right on it. It’s not a bad kit at all.

That is the second person who couldn’t see the big pics. The link should take you to the site with the thumbnails and then if you click on them it is supposed to open a bigger pic. Maybe they are have site problems or something? You can’t beat $17 bucks, thats for sure. I will look into that when I go to do my next one. Thanks.

I found the pictures Jason. Looks good. You must like Shermans?

I do! I can’t wait until Dragon releases the half dozen they have scheduled.

Jason, Very nice, as usual. BTW, the pics worked fine for me.

It has to be a site issue with fotopic, then. Thank you

Maybe it was a bandwidth issue or something at the time, or it might be that the big images are webhosted – I tried to open them at work, and the program Websense blocks webhosted images (which is why I usually cannot see images posted here).

I’m home now, and they opened fine from the thumbs.

What color did you use on the tank? Who makes it?

I used Model Master US Army/Marines Gulf War Armor. I also learned here that it isn’t as accurate as Armor Sand or Sand…can’t remember which, To me, I thought it looked good, but I can’t argue with those who actually drive them

Hey Jim, it looks very nice. I like the fact that it is weatherd just right! That is what they look like out there on the mean streets, good job. The color that you are looking for is MM sand.

Very nice! Non-slip? I’ll have to look into that before I do mine. I did not know either. Looks great.
