My return to armor-The Peanut Butter Panzers-6/21

Like Randy Quaid said at the end of Independence Day… “Hello boys, I’m baAack.”

Work has come back to a more manageable pace and I have finished, finally, a commission build. If you care to see what it was take a look HERE. I know some of you die hard treadys don’t wash the dirt off too often and get to the wingy area. I will be getting caught up on all the going-on in the armor section asap too.

I found a guy on Ebay that had a bunch of the Dragon 144th kits so I bought a bunch. And as long as I was in micro mode I figured I am as well stay there for 1 more for now. It was going to be a slam it together and get it painted and move on. Yeah right, who am I kidding.[;)] I have been saving the lids from peanut butter jars. I have a good supply since it is one of may staples. Over time I will be working on a collection of tiny dios set on the lids and will be title, “The Peanut Butter Panzers” Preiser makes some awesome 144th German tank crew figs.

Dragon 144th Hetzer. Gun barrel drilled out as are the drive sprocket and idler. 1st I sanded the schurtzen thinner and filled/re-scribed the panel lines. Don’t like it so new ones from some scrap PE. MG shield too. Oh man the hangers of the schurtzen is going to be teeny weeny. New muffler and exhaust pipe from solder &drilled out brass tube.

Thats gonna be mad to work on in that scale. Nice idea for the jar lids and dio,s on these. I will be watching for sure.[H]

Marc,

Holy smoke man! I think thats gonna give me an aneurysm! That looks very sharp and at that scale to boot.

Welcome back to armor. Quite the big entrance with a wee something.

Cheers

Dave

I’d need some “Fantastic Voyage” shrinking technology to make me small enough to build that thing! I’m pretty sure there’s not a Optivisor lens powerful enough to help me either. Very interested to see how this Peanut Butter series comes together for you. I looked at the Flight Deck commission vignette as well - very nice work!!

Welcome back Marc! Nice to see you’re still in fine micro-scale form as well…the teensy Hetzer is going to look great when you’re all done with it. [Y]

Wait, what are we looking at here? All I see is this gray colored beetle that…ohhhhh ok, NOW I see it! [:D]

Brian

Thank you all for the warm welcome home.

I can;t wait to get to the weathering stage. the dot filter will be just that… one dot then filter that over the whole thing[:P]

…smooth or crunchy?

Wait a minute…armor guys like it BIG…you went small…really smalll…[bnghead] small…just thinking about it made me…

Oh…that hurts…next you will show me an ant farm full of halftracks…I need a [D]

Great to have you back…looking forward to your builds…expanding [;)]

Rounds Complete!!

Rubber tracks or what???

Looks good so far- never built anything in 1/144 scale, but it looks fun- if I could find any online.?

I’d like to build that 1/144 Dora gun some time. And then a few tanks to go along with it and to show scale.

Can’t wait to see how it turns out!

To say “very fine” would cover it all.

This reminds me of that April Fools issue some years ago, where Jeff was building this super small tank and he was going to put indie tracks on it. LOL [proplr]

Well this should be a treat. I recall some of your micro-props and they were spectacular.

Thanks guys

Manny-Extreme crunchy ala Jim Gafigan… “I opened the jar… it’s just peanuts”[:O]

Mike-OMG where did you get the pic LOL

Njal- yes rubber band tracks. I too have been eying that gun. Lots of places to add some micro detail I am sure.

DM-your search will be rewarded soon

Eric-A modeler saw those and out of the blue sent me resin detail for a Me 109 and a Fw 190D-9 in 144th that includes engines with separate mount and exhausts, gun cowls and landing flaps. As much as I enjoy these little guys those kind of scare me[;)]

I have the perfect accessory for your Hetzer! Your build qualifies for the 38(t) GB BTW~

More 1/144 armor!!! You’re one crazy… uh… dedicated modeler. I think my 1/48 a6m5 cockpit is bigger!

Can’t wait to see more, going for a 3 tone camo?

Awesome Wing Nut!

I wish my hands were that steady…

Thansk for the comments guys

SFire JEEZ that must be tiny.

Vehilce is done and work is aboutto start on the base.

All I can say is that is just wrong Marc. Ridiculous. Camo is excellent. I just can’t get over how small this guy is.

Marc, you must have unshakable hands and a 400X optivisor! Looks great!

Brian

Nice job Marc.[Y] The camo came out really nice…I can’t believe how small it is!!![:D]
