Yesterday I picked up the Academy 1:48 SU-27 Flanker UB, looks pretty nice. Arriving today or early next week will be my 1:48 Revell P51 Blondie. My collection of unbuilt kits is growing pretty quickly.
I’ve sprayed my F15E with tamiya gunship grey, it’s looking pretty good it’s my first model I’ve ever painted so I’ve already learned from the mistakes I made, mainly not buffing areas after sanding and sanding with to coarse a sanding stick. Will post pics in the next couple of days, possibly tonight.
Wish I could say the same thing about my kit collection. But seeing as though it takes me atleast a month to finish a model, it’s not diminishing to quickly.
It’s good to see you’re learning from your mistakes. I’m looking forward to seeing some pics of your F-15E.
I’ve recently discovered sanding sticks and you can get a really smooth finish if you use the various grades from course to x-fine. I found Flex-I-File sanding sticks and they are really good.
Yeah I know what you mean Roosta. When I firststarted paitning seriously WAY back when, it took me just a few botched models to understand what it meant to go from coarse to fine grit sand paper. I still sometimes dig in to hard, can be seen in my completed stang that I will be posting soon. I missed a section of sanding out the course sanding I idd on the lower wing section and can be seen through the NFM. Oh well not a lesson learned… but a reminder of details.
I’m doing this from home on 56k so they are going to trickle through. Makes me miss work where we have a 2Mb pipe at just about every location and it takes a couple of seconds to upload.
You may be able to see the scratches on this pic and a very small amout of leakage on the one above it but I’m not worried about that.I’ve been putting the pylons on tonight. I’ve had to use Revell gunship grey to paint some other bits and it’s a bit lighter than the tamiya stuff but it doesn’t look that out of place unless you look close… like you guys will
