My miniature Air Force- show us yours!

Yesterday, we pulled out all of the models I have built over the last few years so the display case could get a good cleaning. I lined 'em all up on a table, and thought it made for an interesting photo. Has anyone else ever taken a photo of their entire build collection? If so, I would love to see them! Please feel free to post photos of your “Miniature Air Force” here! [:D]

Howdy Frank,

Wow now thats a collection of some sweet lookin builds…!!! Aint it fun cleanin up the ol collection?![:P]

As for mine… Well… Please forgive me since they are a lil dusty… Since I am remodeling the Dungeon, I moved the builds up to the spare room… The rest of them are in another showcase covered up…

Hope you enjoy… By the way, would you have any close ups of the 117? Come to think of it, how bout your Corsair’s… Thanks again and great thread…!!

Which one was your first? Its amazing how much we improve when we line up our first to our most recent.

Cheers leo

Frank, Mike,

impressive collections you have there! I will have to see if I can add a pic of my own later on.

Very nice collection! Maybe one day mine will be that large, but for now I’m at a whopping 5 aircraft in my air force haha

Great pics… are all those 1:48 scale? gives you an idea of coparative sizes of a/c all together like that…

PS I hope you dont have pets or toddlers!

Thanks fellas! Great collection you have there Mike, can you tell me more about that large A6M Zero? What are the ladder-like appendages on the rear fuselage, some form of radar? I have never seen that before. Stunning work my friend! Here’s a couple of close-ups of the Corsairs and F-117:

Darren- I’m looking forward to seeing your collection. I have seen bits and pieces of your collection from some of your workshop pics, but never the whole lot.

Jason- At your current build rate, you’ll have dozens of awesome builds very soon!

Leo- The oldest one I still have is my 1/48 Tamiya Spitfire Mk.Vb (far right, fourth from the bottom). Comparing it to the Mk.I I built a couple of months ago, the progress is quite apparent. Sure makes one feel good about how far they’ve come!

Jmart- All of them are 1/48 except for the little 1/72 SPitfire in the front. I have built 1/48 almost exclusively until now, but am getting ready for my first endeavor into 1/32. I agree- makes for great comparisons of relative sizes!

Looking good Frank. What material did you use for your runway, and how did you get that high gloss.[:P]

Thad

LOL Thad! We like wood for our runway, and have the elves polish it every night for a smooth glossy finish. [8-]

Cool idea Frankand nice collection of models. I haven’t done that since I was probably ten. I know what I’ll be doing tonight after the kids are in bed [8-] (no not that… getch your mind outta the gutter)

Mike, that’s a nice collection too [tup][tup]

What I really want to see though is Ric’s entire collection!!! [:-,] I’m sure he’d need his entire driveway and then some. [:O]

Remember that guy from Utah. His collection of built aircraft was in the thousands.

Now that’s one large collection of high quality builds Frank and Mike! Neat idea for a photo. I may have to do that when I re-arrange the basement.

That’s got to be the most well defended coffee table in the world!

Great shot! Wonderful models! …really Neat-O!

Here’s my 1/72 collection on dusting day.

[#ditto]I’ll see what I can come up with.

Thanks guys! I just realized that one of the birds on the table wasn’t built by me. The dark green A6M5 Zero was built by my girlfriend. Oops! Didn’t mean to take any credit for anything I didn’t do.

Dave- I hope you do! As for Rick’s collection, I hope he stops by and shares a photo or however many it takes to show off his builds. I do remember that guy from Utah, with shelves and shelves full of builds. Absolutely astounding!

Nice collection there too Al! Thanks for sharing the photo. [tup]

I really do hope that everyone who is able to shares their collection with us. Let’s see 'em everybody! [:D]

Whoa! Super cool. That is such flippen’ great shot! Can I copy it and use it for a wall-paper motif?

Great collections! I’m not worthy…

The Porkbits Air Corps really is miniature–it’s 3.5 planes strong (Skyraider still on the assembly line), and fits on my desk.

Here’s a poorly lit snapshot:

PB

Mostly finished and on display.

And some I built to be toys 50 years ago, or longer.

I played with them, and so did my kids.

Wayne,

Where did you get the display case? That’s exactly the kind of display case I’m looking for. Perfect for models.

[:P]

Hey Frank,

Laughs, thats not a Zero my friend… It’s either a Nate or a Kate… Not really into the whole Japanese a/c thing!! The ladder-like appendages are radar antennas…

Glad you liked the ol collection as well… Its still growing I am affraid… LOL

JMart,

To answer your question about the toddler & the 4 legged creature, I have one of each…[;)]

And again, thanks for the kind words fella’s…!!

Flaps up,

Mike
