Well I think it’s safe to say that the 150 is done however… I ordered a commanders set from Warriors last week so it ought to be in within a few days…
Once I do up the commander, my build will be 100% finished…Yay (Maybe I’ll re post at a later date when the figure is complete) There are two areas where I was not happy with… The first one was with the MG’s, nicely done but the model did not come with the ammo boxes and secondly, the “V” shaped drivers window is not closed off at the base. If you were to look at the bottom portion, you’d be able to see into the drivers postion. Then again maybe the real deal had this…
Over all I really like the Hobbyboss kit and how it shapes up… The base was done within a day… I wanted it to have more ground work but as you can see, it’s simple…
Thank you very much for the compliments and I am glad you liked my build…!! Much appreciated my friend.
As for the tires, lets see… I did the weathering process in three stages. I first had a mixture of Polyscale French Earth Brown, Dust and flat base coat and did a 50-50 mixture with distilled water.
I concentrated on the surface that hits the road the most along with the treads. I did about 6 coats and in between each coat, I took a soft rag and lightly wiped of the tops of the tread to reveal the colour of the tire itself.
I worked the mixture to the sides of the wheels paying more attention to the outskirts of the tires and lightly working my way to the center.
From there I took my pinky and rubbed in the center of the tire to again bring more of the tire colour out.
The last part I took Tamiya’s weathering master’s set “A”… I started off with Sand and then light sand., I began to work on the details of the hub and side treads…
The overall vehicle was weathered using this mixture as well as the Tamiya Master’s set “A” aka Tamiya makeup… lol
Haha after looking at the LAV, I really do like how the tires bring out the over all build… This was basically on a whim, I really had no technique, just did as I saw fit… Sound right?
Again, thank you…!!
Nate,
Thank you for taking a look see and I am glad you liked the weathering job on my 150…
Hahaha to funny… I am glad you like my build!! Just sometime one has to take a break from the winged things ya know?
Frank,
I know, I tottaly have to agree with you on the tires… They sure set off the build don’t they? The way I went about doing them was off the wall with really know plan of attack…
Ah yes a commander, I ordered a set from Warriors so they should be in very soon. The set comes with a full as well as a half figure… With the latter, would he be half the commander people think he is?
Thanks fer looking fellas and again, glad you liked it!!
mike - Nice work on the weathering. Overall nice build. Two comments…The black water cans do not appear to have any strap holding them in place or is it just not visable in the photo, hummmm
Next and it is just a detail…the smoke launchers are usually mixed with half being WP. The tube ends are colored, WP is a light green and the HC smoke is black. Just a nit!!
Nice work…now you will be absorbed…by the dark side…[:O]
Thank you for the kind words my friend… As for the water cans, yeah there are straps on there but I used a medium green on them w/ light highlights… So with them being a darker shade, it’s harder to make them out… Will do a little more lighting!!
Ah ok so that’s how the smoke launchers were painted up… Sweet[tup] As for the light green, could I go with a Warpac Gray green(FS34258) This particular colour is by Floquil… On the order of a light green.
As you mentioned, they were usually mixed with half being WP’s… Since there is six on one side, it would be ok to say every other one be the light green?
I used scale black on the end tips just to mix up the black from the black that I used on the camo.
I was surprised that when I tried to get info on the 150, I came up with very little… Very cool info red, I’ll definitely wil be doing some changes!!
I kinda like the Dark Side…
Paul & lexe,
Thank you for the kind words fellas… Yea know lex, I am really not sure… I have not seen Robocop in a while…
Hello, congratulations on your model.
I have got the same kit.
With the camouflage, I can tell what nation belongs the lav-150?
Any decal, where did you buy?
Thanks
