Ok, my first Hasegawa AH-64D is nearly finished. Basically just needs some details and armament and she’s finished. This is the Longbow that keeps popping up in my life. I took pics of it in 2003, my buddy did in 2004 and then I got pics of it direct from Iraq in 2005. I haven’t flown it yet, but I hope to in the not so distant future!
246 is a Block 1 AH-64D, so there wasn’t really anything to modify on the kit. I used the AIRES cockpit for it, which is absolutely fanastic, but other than that, its OOB. The next one I’ve got in the works will be a Block 2 bird, 04-5451 “51A”, which is the first Apache I flew. It needed some scratchbuilding for the HF towel rack antenna and the new TEDAC sight up in the front seat. I should have 246 done by the weekend and hopefully 51A will be done by Monday.
Hey she’s coming along nicely! Is that Model Master Helo Drab? I have the enamel and acrylic, it is amazing how different the hue is between the two (the Acryl version looks more like a newer bird or freshly painted bird, where the enamel works good as a base for a faded look).
Again, it looks great! Oh, what will the loadout be on this?
Yep, that’s Model Master Acrylic. I haven’t been able to get any of the enamel around here (now I can’t get ANYTHING since the LHS closed) so I’ve stuck with the acrylic. The pics I have of 246 in-country show it as being fairly freshly painted out at Taji. Loadout is gonna be fairly simple, 2 pods on the outboard stations and a single Hellfire on each inboard rack (AGM-114F dual warhead and an AGM-114K Hellfire 2)
Gonna darken the Helo Drab a tad further for 51A, since she’s a brand new bird. Hopefully I’ll have that one done this weekend.
