My Hellcat build **Updated 5-24**

Walked back into my hobby room, and decided to grab a kit and build this weekend. No rushing, just building for myself.

I know, most of you can guess it first off…

More advanced…which kit?

F6F, Hasegawa 1/48?

Otaki Hellcat?

Very good.!

Watch for updates.

Now,

By no means, am I the best in building aircraft. I have seen far too many builds, on here, that would put mine to shame. I am not a bolt counter. That drove me crazy, with my armor builds and it wasn’t fun.

I am however, a big fan of WWll aircraft…All countries. Just posting to see if I have the basics going in the right direction.

Hasegawa 1/48 Hellcat Catmouth build:

And please…

Since I normally don’t do aircraft, If I have a color that may be wrong. Please point it out.

The glareshield under the windscreen should be flat black. The work looks nice so far.

Looks good to me…you have my permission to continue [:D]

i love hellcats Eric. I’d say you’re on the right path.

Looking good so far Taps, more please?

Noted

I’ll repaint when the main color is finished. So, just the front or the entire visible part, around the entire canopy?

Thanks for the tip!

hase kit…i have one on the bench also.

Just me venting a tad but, why does / do most kits come with very fragile landing gear?

I didn’t mess anything up but jeez. [8o|] There are more parts, making up the landing gear, than in most of the build, thus far.

OK, I admit, I did have to put my “reading” glasses on, to do this part, of the build. Maybe that’s why I’m so annoyed!! Well, maybe…I had “tweezer launch” that sent me into a frenzy with the carpet monster too.

Recovery did happen…I’m all good!

Some of the very minor seams addressed and theTamiya Flat White is on:

Here is the scheme, I’m doing…Catmouth:

I really like this Hasegawa kit. Very little flash and fit is pretty much dead on.

I’m a big fan of Tamiya kits for fit but boy, Hasegawa is right up there with them, for sure!

Secondary color on, by airbrush. Some spots need brush touch-up:

Last color set for tomorrow [;)]

Third color on…still have the tail section to do. Did some touch up from the mask bleed, in some sections.

looks better then anything i have done your passion shows

I was getting everything set, in the hobby room, to begin building, when I came across this unfinished kit. I also found the old link here.

I think I will finish this first, before moving on. Looking at it now…I do not like the hard line between the Dark Sea Blue and the Light Blue. I will have to redo this. I hope my airbrushing skills are up to par. Maybe a little practice on paper first

So it begins…again!

I was going to question, the wheel well color as to being White or Green Zinc Chromate. It looks a tad darker, toward the front. Maybe a combo of the 2?
