Here is one that I built a couple of years ago. It is of one of the cars that my grandfather raced in the first couple of years of NASCAR. I have included a pic of the actual one so maybe somebody could tell me what model the car actually is. The one I built is an old AMT 40 Ford Coupe kit. Got lucky and a coworker had it in his attic and sold it to me for $2. I was going to try and bang it up and make it realistic but he got sick and I rushed it to try and give it to him before he passed. Anyway here are the pics let me know what you think, I though they would look cool in B&W.
That is awesome! I’m a big fan of Nascar. They are my favorite modles to build. I dont know what kind of car it is tho it kinda looks like a Ford
Thanks, it is a Ford just don’t know what year and all. I think it could be the 37 that he talked about but then again.
Lizard,
That sure does look like a 1940 Ford Sedan… ?

AMT use to produce a '40 Sedan, but it’s been discontinued several years… as a matter of fact, I just located one for sale on E-Bay!

Hope this helps… Frank
Thanks Frank. Exactly what I was looking for. Know if anyone is planning on releasing it again like revell just did with the 40 coupe? Really would like to get ahold of one or two.
I saw it over at the SA site Chris but again LOOKS GREAT…I like the job you did on painting the “good night Irene”
Lizard,
Sorry, but I’m not aware of any re-production of that particular car. The Coupe’s can be found anywhere, but the Sedan’s are quite scarace.
E-Bay is about the best bet on finding one quickly.
Take care,
Frank
Thanks again Frank. Looks like I’ll have to keep an eye out on ebay, i’ve had pretty good luck before.
The car that your grandfather raced was a 1937 Ford flat back sedan, the body was a US style (here in Australia we got a 4 door with a ‘hump’ for the boot)
Monogram released a kit of it Hotrodded with a 351 windsor(?) ford motor, although the kit has modern running gear by combining two kits (Like the 37 and the running gear from the 40 Ford) you could build a nice replica.
The 37 sedan kit I have is Monogram kit no#2757 last released in 1991, you could probably find it on e-bay.
I was going to modify it to a coupe version to build a replica of my 1:1 scale 1938 ford coup hotrod but the 37 coupe kit arrived and vetoed that idea (Too bad the 37 coupe kit is a ‘business man’s’ body and not the ‘club’ coupe like my car!!)
Happy modeling!!
