Hey Mike Kirchoff, I finally got these white T-34 pics uploaded! I ended up not using your technique bu I think this worked just as well.
So here is my Dragon 1:72 T-34 Mod1942. I have always loved the White T-34s so when I got one for my b-day last year, I made sure I did a white scheme. I finally got around to building it just before Christmas. As the title says, it is my first tank ever, I have built tons of Aircraft and you know what I really enjoyed this build and I like how it compares to my 1:72 aircraft (I tend to flip between 1:48 and 1:72)
Anything I have tried in 1:72 ended up looking like a cheap toy. I didn’t realize that it was 1:72 until I noticed the woodgrain beneath it. Sorry, I look at pictures first. Nice work, it must have been hard to weather that.
Fine effort Jay. Now that you got one under your belt, you’ll be ready to move onto Dragon 3-in-1 kits with indy tracks. LOL Just kidding, but it won’t be long before you start craving them as you have joined the Dark Side with no return.
Pretty good for first try, and welcome to the dark side.
Just dont be afraid to make small mistake when building armor vehicle, because those mistake may be because of the crew/rouge running up and down the tank. When ever a tank goes bad, just radically weathered the tank.
Excellent job here. You might want to go with a darker metallic paint for the treads in the future. Other than that, I don’t see any real problems. Keep up the good work.
[:I] Thanks for the comments Supraman, espins1, Mortor Magnet, Tigerman, Carves and ajlafleche. They are appreciated.
I really enjoyed this build and will most assuredly be building more, especially in 1:72. These little dragon kits are the bomb! A local LHS owner said I picked a good kit to start with for armour. You will not see more soon as time is really tight now (I have a 7 month old son and he takes up a load of time) but I will slowly crank them out as I can.
Gorgeous! I’m a big fan of armor of all sizes; I recently got rid of a huge cache of ESCI 1/72 on E-BAY; they just didn’t hold up to today’s standards. Just one thing–PLEASE DON’T simply display it on a piece of bare, varnished wood! Nothind diminishes an armor model–especially a well-weathered one like this–as much as plopping it on a shiny brown plaque! Put down some white glue, sprinkle some brown grass, imprint your tank’s tracks in it, hit that with some sprayed flatcoat lacquer and sprinkle some snow powder or talcum on it and now you don’t just have a model; you’ve got a moment in history!!! Great job! !!! The Doog
