Well, sort of. I have an F5-E that I will be converting into an F-20, so I got some sheet styrene from my LHS. But I have another project underway at the moment, that good old standby Academy MiG-21. I had to add weight to the nosecone before installing it, but all I had on hand to use as ballast were copper BBs (sprue is just too light for ballast in a model this size). Naturally, those things aren’t going to stay in place in an aircraft nosecone. So I cut out a little circle of styrene from the sheet and fitted it over the open end of the nosecone after filling it with BBs. They still can be heard rattling around in the cone, but as it’s going to be sitting on a shelf once it’s done, that won’t matter too much.
So I made my first scratchbuilt part. I feel like a new world has opened up to me.[:I]
