My first model in quite a time!

Hello dere;

Well, it’s time for me to start my first model in quite a while and it will be the culmination of two models that I would like to build. First, will be the 1/48 willys jeep with trailer (old kit) on a pallet which will be pulled, via a parachute, off of a ramp. Second, will be my newest acquired kit, a 1/48 C-130 H Transport. This will have the engines running (props revolving), flaps lowered, wheels down, the jeep being pulled out the back, all while the aircraft is still only three or four feet off the ground.

My question is does anyone out there have any idea of how the (or pictures thereof) parachute is hooked onto the pallet? or pictures of a LAPES aircraft in action? Info needed.

Hey Vance,

There are plenty of photos at the following web address.

Just click on the action photo button. I didn’t go through all the photos, but they had some fairly decent shots there. Hope this helps you.

Good luck with the project and welcome back ! You may want to use a Humvee or a Mutt for the “Jeep” subject though. Willys jeeps were long gone in military service by the time the C-130 H came around.

Welcome back. That’s a very ambitious project. Enjoy!

Hey gang

It seems as though I was in error on what to call the jeep. The diorama will be from the time I was a young man, Viet Nam. Call it a “mutt” if you will, it’s a jeep to me and definietly before the humvee.
