I think my first GB was Lewbuds weekend madness and I built two 1/72 Yak-3’s. I really want to get in on this, but I have 14 builds set for this year and half of those are GB’s. I could join, but I have no idea if I will have any kits going that fit or if I have time to knock out anymore. Define your timeline for this and general rules and that will help me try to work something in.
Scrolling through my history and I think I found it…it was Tigerman’s Kursk/Operation Citadel GB. As with most from back then…the kit is still sitting on the shelf, basecoated, but untracked, undecaled, and unfinished.
The general timeline would be, say, Feb 2 2023 to Feb 6 2024 (I have my reasons [:)]). I would like some comitment here so that this GB does not end up like many others with bunch of people sign up and only very few build. I get it, life gets in the way…
My first GB subject was the Airfix 1/72 Westland Whirlwind, from a kit in the header bag. NOT doing that one again, but that leaves me with another Whirlwind, or maybe any Airfix kit if that fits the rules.
You don’t have to build the same aircraft, just whatever the topic of your first GB was.
For example, my first GB was “thousand roadwheels” which was all about panzer IV and its variants. Then I built the Whirbelwind but this time I would build some other panzer IV.
This sounds fun, but I’ve already got six projects to work on so far… My first GB was the World at War 1944 GB. I’m sure there’d be some good options for that one.
Hmm…this sounds tempting. My first GB was one of the Phantom GBs from ages ago. I might be in on this one. I have a F-4 that I was thinking about pulling of the Shelf of Doom for the Git-R-Done GB. Maybe, just maybe, if cross-overs are allowed.
I can’t do a weekend GB theme now, I just don’t have it in me to whip one out in 48 hrs. I don’t have any 1/72 fighters left. I do however remember an early GB I did with a P-51. I can totally commit to doing another one.
I will commit to doing a Tamiya 1/48 P-51B for this GB. That I can manage.
