my first dio

at last i have finaly bought a camera that works so i can uplods loads lol

here is my first attempt at a dio its the tamyia 1/35 flakvieling 38 20mm

the barrels are from schaton models

the rst is homebrew

it is about halfway finished have a 3 figures to go in and some other stuff bicycle etc

hope you like it

better pics will follow once ive learnt to use the camera

Very nice,the concrete look’s brilliant.

I’v thought about doing something along the same lines. We were in Jersey not too long ago and got some good idea’s from whats left over there.

Looks pretty good. Nice work on the flash suppressors. I Like the PE sight. On the gun, in hte middle below the guns, there’s what appears to be an access panel with hinges. Replacing the handle with sprue or wire would lliven that up quite a bit.

So far so good, the concrete is very good, the flak is too clean,it should have the tips of the gun dark.

Can´t wait to see the rest, good job

Pedro

Looks fantastic. Nice barbed wire. Can’t wait to see it with figures. SteveM

Good start, dude.

It’s definitely a good scratchbuild so far.

your right its true what they say a photograph of your work sure shows things up.

thankyou all for your kind words

That looks really good. Love the Flak! Althought I like the way it looks, I think that your barbs on the wires are a bit too long…

I like your concrete! Looks nice and weathered without looking ruinish (like that’s a word [:)]) What is the concrete constructed of? What colors did you use? I have not done a dio with concrete yet but that is comming. Nice work. Oh… and another thing I like is that it has depth. It’s not just all flat. Can’t wait to see it with the figures in it.

thought i would update you all a bit on the progress of this, nearly finished about another couple of weeks to go.hope you all enjoy

the bike is to be propped up against the wall at the front

and another dio in the making

Looks like your project is coming along nicely!

Geez, a guy peeing that close to a gun emplacement, wait till the first hot day ! Peeuw ! Aint war hell ? Nice work all 'round.

Very nice work on the flakgun and setting.

Way better than my first Diorama, how do you do the concrete?

Normaly I would susgest putting a vehicule in there (like a jeep or a motorcycle) but there’s not enought room to put one in so forget it.

By the way how do you do the elevation?

finally got around to answering this question sorry chaps.

the concrete is painted by using delta ceramcoat paint availible in the us which at the moment is good for us brits as the £ is so strong.

anyway the colours used are as follows

sandstone

mudstone

charcol

burnt umber

wedgewood green (very usefull for the mould you get at the damp bits

hope this helps

T-rex wrote By the way how do you do the elevation?

what do you mean matey?

Ow, I’m sorry, am I not behind spesific enough, I met dow did you do the hill, the ELEVATION, GROUND LEVEL, HEIGHT, RAISING THE GROUND. I may want to know it for futur project, do you understand.

I’d disagree with this. I think the guns look good. These guys are obviously in a relatively quiet area (just before the invasion, maybe?) so they would have time to keep their weapon clean. The gun barrels are discolored enough (from what I can tell from the pictures) to suggest the weapon has been fired, probably quite a bit, but there is enough down time for maintenance. About what you would expect since these guys are in a fixed position and not constantly manuevering.

What I want to know about is the concertina wire. How did you do that? Is it something you bought or scratched?

looks great, some nice detail on the bike, and the peeing figure really gives it a “snapshot in time” sorta feel. One suggestion, your grss to me kind of looks like clump, all the same colored lawn grass or astro-turf (fake grass). Other companies make static grass which can be used to look like longer wilder grass, and has some variateion in color to look natural. HTH

the barb wire is scratch built takes a bit of time to start with but after a few goes its easy you can make a run in about 1/2 hour

see if i can find the link
