My first 1/48 armor model

Hey everyone! I just joined the site and would appreciate any constructive criticism. thanks.

Dan

welcome to the site,it looks pretty good, but the lighting makes it hard to see.(my same problem with pics) but the base is nice and simple but effective, and from what i can see the weathering looks good.Maybe a figure to add some life to it ?

Nice job! And welcome to the site.

Terry

Welcome to the FSM family.

It looks really good to me. I would put it my display case.

How about to closer in pics? From what I can see it looks pretty good. Post this in the diorama forum and you might get some good answers as well. I agree some figies on the Marder and maybe a couple walking along would add some dimension to it. I think a little churned grass on the tracks and in the track marks behind the tank would be more realistic. I’m not an expert though. Thanks for posting.

Looks like a fine job to me.Bigger pics of that bad boy would be appreciated.

Looks good from here. Nicely done.

Regards, Rick

I know you said when you posted this in your other thread that you can’t add figures for the competition this is going into. But aftyer that i would deffinatly add a few. One thing you don’t want in a Diorama is a large empty space. So a few figures would deffinatly add alot to this. But other than that, i like it alot.

I think it came out great, thanks for sharing. How big did it turn out being?

Thanks a lot guy your compliments and critiques. I will definitely add a few figures after the show. I was also thinking of adding a tree for some elevation too. I guess I just wanted to keep the base as simple as I can for the OTB category. Anyone know who makes good 1/48 scale figures?

I had never checked 1/48th figures before. Most people, myself included, seem to build 1/35th. Seems 48th isn’t a good scale for Dioramas given the limited number of figure sets. tamiya do a few, but only one that could fit your scene.

main problem with this is that the Infantry are all SS. But some of the vehicle crew could be ok, though they are late war.

That looks great! The only thing I would add is that if you can press that Marder into the ground work a bit more, it would be more convincing as these were heavy vehicles.

As for figures, you can try http://www.track48.com/shop/home.php. They specialize in 1/48 armor, and they have lots of figures to choose from.

Welcome to the Forum! Please show us more pictures as you improve on the scene.
