My Firefly Lives!!! Update pics - April 20

Just so you guys don’t think I don’t build anymore, here are some pics I took this weekend of my poor, messed up Firefly. I tried I tried several techniques to get the finish back to where it was decent. In the end, I wound up re-base coating, washing, and highlighting. Now I’ve got to figure out how I want to decal it. (It’s very glossy at the moment, awating decals before flat coating.)

Hope your all doing well.

And just for something a little different, here’s a shot of the DML M4A2 Red Army on which I’ve been working.

The Firefly looks great to me. Something about messing up the paint and re-doing creates a depth that adds un-intentional realism to it. The Dragon looks good also but way too monotone. Thumbs up on both though. [tup]

Not sure what happened to your pics Bill, but they are a bit fuzzy. Near as I can see it looks good to me, especially your Red Army shermie. BTW what’s up with all the Sherms? LOL [:D]

Cool ! Keep us posted with some completed pics ! You are further ahead than me , my Firefly , is still in the box .

" PERSEVERANCE "

that’s the most bling-bling firefly i’ve ever seen [:D]

Bill caught the Sherman fever. LOL.

Glad to see that the Firefly is finally ready to fly.

Its nice to stick with something and keep trying. It looks like its really comming along great.

Bill, Great stuff. 'bout time we showed everyone what we been working on!!!

Ted

[:D] both builds are looking good, cant wait to see them finished.[:D]

Both looks good.
Are they finished?
I think they needs some weathering.

nice . but is that a german crew frm panzerII kit ?

I was wondering when, and if, anyone would notice. Yep, that’s “Hans” hitching a ride on the Firefly. I think he’s just scoping out the competition!!

Nope, they aren’t finished yet. The ‘Fly’ is getting close. Basically decalling, a bit more weathering, and flat coating left to do. The M4A2 is only base coated. I have to figure out how to paint and afix the one piece DML tracks, then will start with washes, highlighting, etc. But for 3 or 4 weeks into the build, it’s coming along pretty fast (for me!!).

Thank you all for your kind comments on my “targets”. I appreciate the time you’ve taken to look and post. Thanks.

Eric, just catching up on some OD work. I haven’t forsaken dunkelgelb. In fact, I’m just finishing up about 5 1/72 dudes, including the Elefant. I saw on GM last night that the Bergepanzer is in. Mine should be coming soon, depending on how far down “the list” I am. That kit is supposed to have, as unused parts, the pieces for the drivers hatch I messed up on the Elefant. Sometimes it pays to be slow!! lol

I’ve gotten a little more work done on this guy. It’s finally really starting to come together. Here are a few more pictures. I used after market Bison decals on it and they are really terrific. There is no decal film to speak of. And they went on great.

I managed to get pictures that are a little closer to the real color, this time, but they are really dark. Sorry. I really don’t know what happened to the previous ones, but that’s the way it goes sometimes, I guess.

Okay Bill shelve that baby before naything goes wrong. LOL Coming on nicely Bill.

Thanks, Eric. That’s probably a good suggestion! How you been doing??

Bill,

Excellent!! [#ditto] with what Eric said given what we have talked about!!! Hee hee.

Yep! Looks like you’ve got the Sherman fever Bill. I likes um both. Keep up the good work. Oh! I spotted the German TC right off! I thought maybe it was some kind of an officer exchange program? LOL. Semper Fi, mike

Thanks, guys. Hmmm, Hans as an exchange student! That could work!1 lol

Take care Bill! good work. Semper Fi, mike

Here are the latest. I’ve weathered it a bit with powered pigments and put the tools on it. These are the Formations Sherman Pioneer Tool Set. Really nice stuff.

2nd pic is a close up of the tools. Sorry it’s so blurry. My camera just will not take a close-up picture.
