You are probably correct. I store my oldest models in boxes to make room for the newer ones. I have also donated several to local schools and a couple of museums.
do you know what you want to do !!, get yourself some 10mm wood dowling and a large thin sheet of ply wood say 5mm, make a base out of a piece of the ply wood say 4 inch square then cut a lengh of dowl so it is well above your models then cut out a piece of ply to the size of the models undercarriage wheels, glue or screw the ply parts to the dowl rod… thus making a tall stand. this way you can get models in between and above [:D] i’ve done it.
I get ya! Granted cars take up less space than planes, I’m still beginning to have trouble figuring out where to put them all. And don’t get me started on Armor…[8-]
What I do is store most of them and display just a few, then rotate your displays every few months or so. You’d be surprised how you’ll enjoy your collection every time you pull them out of storage! It’s almost like they are brand-new again!
I put up high shelves on the wall about a foot and a half down from the ceiling for my small models and the rest are hanging from the ceiling. Cleaning day is especially fun because I “fly” 'em a around to dry 'em off…
Have you thought of suspending future builds from the ceiling or wall? You can even suspend some of your current one’s how they are now and depict them landing or flying ‘low and dirty’.
What plane is that down in the bottom left hand corner?
The black and white is only on the underside of the Spit. It was a scheme that was used on some planes, early on in the Battle of Britain. I think the Airfix instructions said that this was from around 1939. The topside is the standard Dark Green / Dark Earth.
I gotta ask - How’d you come up with the cool screen name ?
