Transfer trolley is the piece on the left rear that the round is sitting on, it pivots left and right and then the arm moves in an arc to pick the round up off the ground or ammo carrier and transfer it to the correct position to load it into the breach. Then it rotates to the back of the breach for loading.
Yes, the fuze is on the tip (pointy end).
Yes, the sights are on either side of the trunions (uprights that hold the barrel), in front of the seats.
Why do I know all this? I am a US Army Major of Artillery. I have fired the beast you build. It makes a really big boom. Great piece of equipment for its time.
Sounds like the dullcote is reacting with the paint. This can happen if the base coat of paint is not fully cured and you apply a heavy dullcote. Can also happen with different paint and dullcote types or brands being incompatible. What type of paint did you use?
Everything is correct in your pic except the circle. The transfer trolley can stay sand, just the round on it needs to be green.
Your paint combo could be the problem. I only use Testor’s Model Master Enamels, so I don’t have any issues with paint/future/dullcote incompatabilities. I would stick with the same type paints and dullcote, etc. in the future.
Check here for DML figures, look for ones such as 82nd Airborne, 101st ABN, 1st Infantry Division, etc. Scroll through the pages till you get to 1/35 scale, look for blue circle with a white star for US items. They are all from ODS (early '90s) era.
They would do. Stinger (Anti-Aircraft missile) would be kinda out of place, but the others would work, kinda. They don’t really look like artillerymen would though. The M203 gunner with hand on knee would work well, maybe the kneeling and pointing guy. Try to find some that are not in battle scenes, more relaxed. You do not really want figures that look like infantrymen fighting on the front lines. These are the type of Dragon figures I mean though. Good luck.
Nice progress on the build. I have built this kit myself a long while back, but it’s still sitting in the box, in subassemblies. You kind of reminded me that I gotta go back and finish it. [:D]
