Hey Chris,
Nice job on your RAAF Hornet…I’m building this 1:32 Academy Hornet right now. Just about 90% complete and doing it as the CAG bird from VFA-34 “Blue Blasters”…really nice skull and flames symbol on the tail…
Used the Cutting Edge Super Detail kit for the cockpit and Eduard for the detailing for the instrument panel.
It would be neat to set up a site somewhere and then have everyone who has built this kit to forward a picture of their Hornet and a few details(squadron and variant) so we can all see the fine work that is being produced out there.
Nice job, Chris…I know how much work goes into this kit.
Cheers,
Jim…
Great job Chris, looks wonderful.
Thanks again guys!.. Well if I site is indeed set up to show these monsters, then I am all for it… Thanks for your comments also…
GAModeler… I did get to the US, but was only in South GA for a few weeks… Long story, but lets just say the so called friend that offered me the contract work, kinda didnt have it, and I wasted a whole trip over there… He got an earfull let me tell you… I would like to return full time, so if your company, or anyone you know are looking for an Aussie. Then let me know!
Cheers, Chris
Great build she looks beautful, as do the decals…I know what you mean about catching the 1/32 scale bug, they’re likw tattoos once you get one it’s hard to stop.
One question…are the reflector strips painted or decal? If painted what color is that?
Thanks,
The reflector strips are infact decals… The problem is, I cant remember if they are from the kit decals or the Aussie Decal set that I used for the RAAF markings?.. So sorry I cant be a little more helpfull with the color… They are infact a kind of faded yellow, as they are supposed to be, and not the bright yellow you normally get in the kits…
Cheers Chris
Keep it up!
Outstanding job! Makes me want to go out and salute the flag out front.
I’d love to try a 50th anniversary paint scheme, how is the detail with the academy hornet?
The detail on this kit is excellent, although I dont know any other kits this size to compare it with?.. I got my kit from www.hobbyeasy.com as they dont charge the prices HLJ or the American companies do, so I was happy to have this kit… I just wish they would start on the Super Hornet in this scale!..
I will say one thing though… This klit can be a little complicated, and the amount of parts is also scary… I think it could be toned down a bit, as you never see any of the stuff inside anyways…
