I usually don´t build more than one kit of the same plane (I will make an exeption when I build many skyhawks and Mirage in diferent version and argentinean markings) and as many of you will remember I post here my hasegawa´s 1/48 corsair a week or so ago, but I bougth a cheap airbrush a week ago and because I didn´t want ruin one of my main projects I took an old 1/72 (italery or academy I don´t know) from my poor dad´s collection striped the old decals and paint and made some lost pieces from scratch
The aibrush is very good (for the price, I paid less than 30 dollars) but I still have to gain more control of it, anyway this was a weekend projet so don´t be too hard on me, the decals were thin and fragile, and silvered badly even over a coat of future, some were incorrect in shape too, but they were a gift so I can´t complaind.
anyway it was a fun way to try my new airbrush and the result was a good adition to my collection of 1/72 scale planes.
as usually any comment or critic will be wellcome
best regards
Jeremias
and here a picture of the corsair and some of his armada´s buddyes
An awesome collection of 1/72s ya got there! Very well done!
Sounds like the new airbrush is breaking in quite nicely too. It dos take alot of practice with it (i’m still working on technique too) but you’ll see that it’ll pay for itself pretty quickly![8D]
Thanks man! but this isn´t my first airbrush, I owned an aztek many years until it die a few weeks ago… but haven´t get the “sensation” of this new airbrush
but this doesn´t mean I don´t need practice, I think practice is the only way to master this thing haha
Two Corsairs? OUTSTANDING! I am working on two of them right now myself. Wel done Jeremias, thanks for the pics! Nice collection you have there too, especially like the Bolo you have there. [^]
I’ve actually not had mine for very long. But when I was shopping for the ones I got now, I’d heard alotta mixed reviews on the Aztek. What was your take on the thing?
There is a very simple to clean and easy to work with, but it isn´t durable (in my opinion) I had two of them, and over the years (not many) the airbrush started to leak air, paint etc… on the good side there is the simplicity of cleaning, you can change paints quickly and the only thing you need to do to archive diferente paterns is change the nozzle.
I wanted to buy a better airbrush, I´m thinking on an iwata hp-c but wirh this economic crisis I don´t know if that is going to happen in a near future, for now my cheap airbrush will do (and it´s a copy of the iwata anyway)
I’ve had 3 Aztecs in the past. And I have the same feelings as Jeremias they are very nice aribrushes but not very durable. After awhile they start to leak air through the body. The first two it wasn’t to much of a hassle because Testors warrantied them. But they stopped doing that so when the third did it I bought a Badger.
The overall paint scheme is very nice. It’s hard to tell from the photo but did you have some trouble with silvering around the decals on the wing panels?
