My 2006 Year in Review

Can’t believe this year is just about over. This was the year my little girl was born back in March, I lost a bunch of my builds due to a shelving collapse, and I learned how to use pastels for weathering, make my own decals, and use foil for NMF. What a year.

Monogram Pro-Modeler Junkers Ju 52/3m

Monogram Pro-Modeler F-84G Thunderjet 1/48

Tamiya Bristol Beaufighter Mk. VI 1/48 (lost to shelving collapse just a month after I completed it [:(!])

Hasegawa Lockheed P-3C Orion 1/72 (converted to a ‘B’ model and given as a gift to my step-father who worked on the actual plane I modeled)

Monogram AT-6 Texan 1/48 (painted and custom-decaled in the colors and logos of the NFL’s Houston Texans)

Academy Boeing B-47E Stratojet 1/144 (foiled and placed on a custom-built stand)

Tamiya M26 Pershing 1/35 (my first armor model)

This was my most prolific year since 1997 when I built around 10 kits (but that was back when I was still single and only had to worry about going to work and college football games [;)])

Nice work. If you balance the busted shelf with the birth of your daughter… you end up WAY on top[tup]

I can deal with you being an Aggie but that Texan needs some blue and white with a silver star on it. By they way nice builds, really like the Beaufighter.

Thad

Nice collection, I really like the Beaufighter. Too bad it got detroyed. Congradulations on the baby girl! [tup]

Way way way on top. Plus I’ve been allowed to purchase new models to replace those I lost (I believe I lost 17 and I’ve replaced many 10 by now via sales I found at Hobby Lobby, a place in China called LuckyModel.com, and Ebay most recently).

As for the Texan being changed to blue & silver with a star, na, can’t do it. The Dallas Texans exist now only as a footnote of Texas football history, and are now known as the Kansas City Chiefs. The Houston Texans, no matter how pathetic their OL is, their QB is, etc, are the team with that moniker and currently have a 1-1 record against their neighbors to the north.

As for the Beaufighter, that was the one I really lamented losing. I managed to salvage many of the after-market pieces I put on it for use in the next one I’ll build, but man, I put a lot of work into that one and (not to toot my own horn or anything) it came out really good.

Those are some great looking models Aggieman. I’m sorry to hear of the loss of your other models, but am very happy to hear of your daughters birth. That will be an in progress build for the rest of your life.[(-D] By the way, my 6 yr old daughter built her first model this year. Here’s to your new year with new life.[#toast]
