my 1st boat: Tamiya PBR

Thanks .I dropped a bass in there .Problem solved LOL.LOL.

Now for more serious matters .I want to know if you are coming to a show near me .Why ? If your first one is that good I ain’t gonna put a model in ships and boats .You would blow me away ! P.S. I live in TEXAS hill country .

lol I knew that would work.

I’m sure it would be the other way around I’m no boat builder and I know nothing about boats except I need a geen and red light on the front end of my bass boat. I’m all the way up in Indiana never went to Texas before.

HI Clint, I was just on the phone with tankerbuilder, and he directed me to this. Brother, all I can say is FANTASTIC!! WOW!

I do mostly armor and a/c, but he’s been helping me thru the 1/200 Arizona(my 2nd attempt at a ship). He knows ship models for sure…

I just can’t believe this is your first try!! incredible, just incredible…

Thanks for the kind words humper I do mostly armor myself, this boat is more like a armor piece then a ship and so I went about it like it was a tank. I don’t think I would try something like a battle ship I just wouldn’t know where to start. I would like to see pics of your Arizona you should start a build thread here to show everyone how its coming along.

These patrol boats definitely were shot at alot on the Delta so you would see lots of “splash” damage on the armor around the guns and around the cabin. Maybe you can chip the paint a little to simulate bullet strikes.

Thanks Mikeym I will see what I can do to add more damage to the armor plates right now I got to much going on to pull it out and work on it.

Hey , RAMBO !

Wassup man ? Gotta tell you .Your modeling skills with this boat did the unheard of . It made this old floating ting modeler git out his version of that vessel .I am choosing to do mine as fresh as the day she was finished . I like shiny boats , I guess (you know , new shiny , not paint shiny ). Now , question , if you did this as a tank model , where’s the turret tingy ? LOL .LOL .LOL I still have a problem with my boots though .Now , I have to ask How do you remove a baby Bass that’s already eaten the little toe ( Well , I thought it was a bass ! I never noticed the teeth ! ) LOL.LOL. I wanna see more of yer stuff .I bet it;s good . Bye !

would love to see pics of it as your building hmm you could try a even bigger fish that might do it lol. I’m sorry but when you said paint shiny it made me think of one with a glitter finish like bass boat

Hi :

Yeah , I always wondered why my Bass-Boat was metal-flake green .Shoot , it sure didn’t impress the fish any .LOL.LOL.LOL. Now , I bet if you got your hands on the R.A.G. boat and the " Swift ", the first model of Viet -Nam boats MONOGRAM did , You would , with your techniques , blow the competition away. You make me hungry to see pics of more of your work . Bye !

I have found a guy on the net who made the masters for masterpiece models and some AFV Club boats but I have tried contacting him with no answer as of yet (about 9 weeks). Masterpiece has seem to have gone out of business but there is a Zippo and a ATC that I really want to get heres a link

Back in my high school days, before I joined the Navy, I had a summer job on the Intracoastal Waterway in Northwest Florida. One morning in 1970 a river monitor made its way past us. I was so impressed that I decided the Navy was what I wanted to do after graduation. But, in boot camp in 1972, I discovered that the Brown Water Navy had been disbanded and I ended up on aircraft carriers, instead. Not what I wanted, but my mom felt better about it.

The monitors where impressive I could see how it could sway you to join.

Hey Rambo, did you watch Apocalypse Now for inspiration? Great movie of course and I admire how the PBR “Street Gang” is a major player in the flick.

Thanks for sharing that Alex 9 years is a long time on one build but when thats the outcome its worth it.
