“IN PROGRESS” is my 1/25 Randy Cooper Galileo 7 Shuttlecraft from the original Star Trek episode of the same name.
Currently I am working on the interior(I have assembled the model, as seen…it required clean up,sanding ETC… as it is all resin), As the model will be sealed. At which time I will proceed to finish and clean up the the exterior and airbrush the two tone colors and decals.
Currently, however, I have finished up my lighting which consists of the overhead light in the cabin and the rear engines.
I will not be lighting the domes on the front of the nacelles or anything els…why? Im a purist. They were never lit on the show. AND, iam very conservative with lighting…I detest overly lit models. To me it’s clumsy and suggests your trying to hide something.
The upper hull is just sitting in place currently and has not been painted or light block as again, my intention was to complete the interior and finish up the lighting first.
Yes!I am looking very much forward to it’s release! Personally, I couldn’t care less about the interior. I can scratch build one if I want. They did say, they MAY release an interior at a later date. Just happy it’s happing!
The bridge set was 1/32 scale (I think), but the heads seem overscale to the bodies like 1/30. This is probably due to the nature of trying to capture the actual actors’ likeness when it was reissued in the 1990s.
It included Spock, Kirk and Sulu. I know there was a detail set back in the day that included Bones and the other walls not included in the original kit. The kit included like 2/3 of the bridge walls so you could see inside the bridge.
Andrea Miniatures did a few white metal figures in 54mm which I think equates to 1/32 scale. The did Shatner’s Kirk in TOS uniform called “Starship Captain” and “Space Officer” (Spock) in Wrath of Khan movie era uniform. Then there’s the TNG movie era Picard as “Starship Commander.”
Nice work! A guy in our club is doing the same TOS shuttlecraft (no idea whose kit) on a commission. He has gone a little crazy with the ‘blinky-blinky’ lights though.
I’ve got some Airfix multipose 1/32nd figures and nudes from some other company (sorry the name escapes me right now) that I’ve been planning on putting together for the bridge set for over a decade now- maybe I’ll get to it sometime before I croak. No idea on how to capture the original actors, I was going with some other starship- the USS Constitution NCC-1700 maybe…
1/25 “Randy Cooper” Galileo Shuttlecraft build.
“In Progress”
The upper hull currently is removable (hence the noticeable split in the wings.)so, at a future date, I can add more interior detail before permanently sealing the model up.
The interior and rear engine light up.
The nacelle caps do not light up…why? They NEVER did in the series. Im boring that way.
Eventually I will build a Diorama for the model after I have some video fun, like my other builds, of the Shuttlecraft doing it’s thing.
