Mustang with Malcolm hood

I’m sorry for that brand mix -up with the Hurricane. This is my Tamiya Mustang with the malcolm hood. Being a Tamiya kit, it went together without any fit problem, I used the kit decals and the suggested color scheme for lack of any reference to this type. It was an OOB.

Very nicely done! I love the Mustang ll in RAF colors. Good looking model. You’ve done a very lovely job.

Just as a note - the leading and training edges of the Malcom Hood were pretty much never painted. It was a raised lip of Perspex that looks, for all intents and purposes, to be alloy or painted…but it was never painted,

I know this is a restored bird - but the hood is an original.

It would be cool to see the A-36 Apache too, another version that does not get the attention it deserves.

Yeah it is a nice change to see a RAF camo P-51 instead of the more common NM or OD green over grey USAAF bird.

Outstanding Mustang.

Definitely Tamiya, you can tell by all the mistakes. The mission markings (bombs) were yellow not white. The chessboards and squadron badge were on both sides of the fuselage. The chessboards have the wrong orientation, they should have the white squares in the top left, and bottom right positions, which was pretty well standard for 315 Squadron Mustangs. I only know of two that did not. There would be a black letter G under the nose. Only Techmod to my knowledge have a correct set of markings for this Mustang. Most of the manufactures and decal companies usually end up with some sort of composite of all three of Horbaczewski’s Mustangs.

I love the familiar birds in different schemes. Another well built plane. Constructor, do you have a bubble top D and a Twin-stang next?

I do have a bubble top D but I don’t have the twin. I will be doing the Tamiya 8th Air Force aces next.
