Gary,
Rob Wiederrich took over a thread on the Revell 1/96 Cutty Sark a while back and I, for one, am sooo grateful he did. He’s a gentleman who is generous with his knowledge, encouraging to folks like me who need motivation to tackle the big CS, and a master modeler. At his invitation I posted a few pictures on that thread from time-to-time the last ones of which are here: http://cs.finescale.com/fsm/modeling_subjects/f/7/t/151475.aspx?sort=ASC&pi240=23
I’m not in the same solar system (much less “ballpark”) as Rob is but, through the knowledge I’ve gained reading about building the Revell 1/96 CS, and Rob’s suggestions, posted images, and helpful commentary, I am - so far - managing to soldier on.
You might check out the ships forum from time-to-time. There are some really interesting techniques I’ve read about on that forum that might be applicable to aircraft modeling as well.
BTW, Rob has started another thread regarding the Cutty Sark when she had been taken over by the Portugese and renamed the Ferreira. It’s an astonishing accomplishment so far and I’m sure it’ll only get better.
