Mr. Color Levelling Thinner and Testor's / Model Master Enamel Paints

Have any of you used this combination? If so, how well did it work out? I know that Testor’s and Model Master enamels don’t play nice with non - Testor thinners.

I’ve not used that particular combination, but can advise you to go ahead and test it. Use plastic spoons, shoot your thinned color, let cure 24 hours. That should reveal any issues with that combination. Trial and error is definitely a pain and a time suck, but boy am I glad I’ve done it time and again.

Haven’t tried that - I usually thin Testors enamels with lacquer thinner.

I’ve always used mineral spirits with Testor and Model Master enamels, never had any problems with it.

I have used the self leveling thinner with Testors enamel with good reults. Not much with with Model Master, my current supply is being used up rapidly. New stuff lacks many military colors, so I may have to mix colors, but works fine, the self leveling stuff gives a great finish with glossy colors.. I don’t use it on flats.

Model Master is all I use and I’ve used MCLT with it with great results.

With Testors enamels in general I use hardware store lacquer thinner, thinned 1-1. I keep my more expensive MLT for use with Tamiya LP lacquers, or the rare times I use Tamiya acrylic paints. At that with Tamiya flat colors I use either Tamiya LT or Hardware LT.
