Mr. Color GX100 residue

Hello all,

Ive been struggling to figure out the white residue issue ive been having with gx100. My usual mix is 50/50 to the mr. color thinner. Ive tried high psi, low psi, spraying close, spraying far, and no matter what I ALWAYS get a white residue that I have to use a stiff brush to remove. I’m at a loss for what to do with this gloss varnish. Any ideas would be great.

Iwata Eclipse is my airbrush when applying.

Regards,

Lan

I’d also like to point out that I’m using Mr. Color Thinner and Ive read that Leveling Thinner would solve this. If anyone has any insight it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Leveling thinner absolutely! Around 50% thinner. Around 20 psi. Paint a little closer and make the coats kind of wet looking on the kit.

You may be experiencing an effect known as “blooming”.

This can occur when humidity is high and the ambient temperature is close to the dew point. When you spray, evaporation of the solvent in the paint cools the surface to the point where condensation forms on the surface of the paint. This manifests as a milky/cloudy haze on the paint. Best solution is to avoid spraying on days when this is likely to occur.
