MPC Ford High Jacker Van (DONE!)

What a difficult model to build…it fought all the way to the end! I went for aa different look than the box art which it was basically a show van. I thought of a young guy that got the van for cheap and decided to tricked it out with a 4x4 setup and all the cool things that were a trend in the 70’s. The perfect vehicle to go camping with your girlfriend! Another thing that kept me thinking for a few days was to build it clean and shiny or used and grimy. I went with the dirty and muddy look to inject some personality to it.

This pics were taken in kind of a hurry and they didn’t turned out like I wanted. They are cool enough to show here though. Tried a setting of auto ISO and I really didn’t like the result much.

Well I hope I didn’t bored you to dead! Here are the pics…

See you in the next project!

NOT bored in the least. Congratulations on a great build. Greatly enjoyed to WIP.

I’m not normally one to frequent this part of the forum, but I’ve been lurking around the WIP thread to follow the progress on this project. Joe, all of the work and personalized touches you have added to this build have really paid off in the end - truly nice work!

Thanks for the props guys!

Hey man, that is one sweet build! Love all the gear on top, makes me wanna buy this kit!

For a second I was worried this one was going to wind up back in the box! Glad to see it come to life. You did a great job!

Thanks guys! It almost made it back to the box indeed! LOL!

that looks great! i love all the little details.

Glad you liked it!

Awesome build, I’m a armor guy who builds cars once in awhile and love the way this is all dirty and grimy and I like the low angle pictures. It reminds me of looking at my older brothers 4 wheeling magazines when I was a kid in the 70s

nice. a lot of nice touches

Really “SOOPAH” work on that van.

I believe Sergeant Bosco “B. A.” Baracus of the A-Team would have been very happy driving such a vehicle.[whstl]

I really like all the accessories inside and out along with the sprayed mud.

Great work ! [:D][Y]

Appreciate the props!

Great model![Y] I used to love those vans when they were so popular in the late 1970s.I was too young to drive when they were popular, but I used to draw pictures of vans with my own artwork designs at school instead of doing the work to convert base ten to base eight or whatever that nonsense was. You almost never see them any more, although there was one a while back I saw at a classic car show.

How did you do the canoe?

Okay, I just got done prowling around this model’s WIP; I don’t know how the heck I missed that! Anyway, once again, fantastic build!

Thanks for the kind words Jim!

The canoe was already built. Was a 1/24 G scale that I got from Ebay. Its close enough in scale. I just weathered it a bit and carved the paddles from wood sticks.
