This will be cool. Are those decals on the camper? What is the texture on the body?
Hi Lee yes it will be a cool surfer/camper! The camper finish is home made alloy/rivet decal plus one for the rusty mild steel door. The board carrier idea sourced from Google but modified for a car not a bike. The camper roof would be too high to carry the board. The body texture is Hobbycraft bottle spray chrome sparkle, that’s come out looking a bit wet!
I’ve nearly finished the cab I found two pedals in my spares box, just waiting for the paint to dry…
The wood bed/seat is finish except it only has one coat of wood varnish and needs a couple more. The flooring template is in there…

Thanks guys, I’ll be getting somemore done today, a second coat of wood varnish and see if it needs more, and fit the pedals and the pickup floor.
I’m not sure on finishing the front door etc as the instructions are not that clear.

Hi midnightprowler thanks for the positive feedback but, I should be using the slant six but I don’t want to build an engine that won’t be seen sorry! I’ll put the engine in spares bin.
Hi again midnightprowler, BIG change of heart re the slant six motor, yes put it in this afternoon, pics to follow, may have to re-hash the exhaust exit so as not the burn or dis-colour the surfboard!

Cool. I did one of these as a factory stock phantom, I cut out the engine cover from the bed to show off the engine. I put a 340 in mine. Here are some pics. Not trying to hijack your thread, just give you some inspiration.

The real truck it is hinged on the right side.
Well I’ve searched the truck and all I can see is a central pivot. But on the model it seems to have just a lower pin on each side and is a drop down door, although I have seen one model with a central post that hinges the door in the middle?

The central pivot is indeed correct for the ‘real thing’—MPC gave it that floppy clamshell version as a simpler-to-reproduce option.
I managed to replicate it fairly well on the version of the kit I posted a few years back, but it was a bit fiddly…the real McCoy would definitely have recommended short legs (and a pretty uncomfortable posture) to any real driver and/or passenger. Here’s the page if you’d like to take a look:

The exhaust exit in the middle in front of the back axle…
I scanned the Deora logo from the boxtop and printed out some decals in various sizes…
The new surfboard I made for this build with a new decal…
My major mistake was to chrome the windscreen surround, much too thin and fragile to remove, plus the front drop down door with a new decal and the headlight/bumper unit fitted…
The body and chassis fitted together with the new board in the hanger…
