Just finished the building stage on a FW-190 d-9.Now to painting bird.I was wondering does anyone have any tips on doing mottled camo.
Thanks to anyone who replys.[:)]
a double-action airbrush, thin paint and low air pressure are the easiest ways to get good mottles, though it can be done with a brush, or a small sponge. With the airbrush, a lot of experimentation on a scrap model or piece of plastic will help you get the desired effect.
I know where you are coming from! You may want to try an Eduard Mask - it’s a photoetched mask with several patterns etched in it, and you can use it over and over again!
Best wishes!
You can always make your own masks with Firsket paper or something like it. Just use a hobby knife to cut out the pattern, secure it on the airframe and paint away. I’ve used it for years with some success. Hope this helps.
If your using a airbrush set it on low pressure and us your fine tip,or cut the pattern you want from paper and spray through that. Also used the sponge method the was mention above and this works weel also. Pappy
