I want to build mosquito NF30 in 1/48. the models i found were Airfix NF30 or Tamiya NF XIII.
are they different (exterior)? I read that the Tamiya are better than the Airfix , thats why I was thinking of buying the Tamiya inspite that it’s not 30 but XIII.
The Mk XXX has different (longer) engine nacelles for the two-stage merlins it was fitted with. There are no versions of the Tamiya Mosquito that have these nacelles. There might be some after market resin ones but I don’t know of any. The Airfix kit for the Mk XXX has new nacelles included but the detail is poor. Paragon used to have two-stage nacelles in their range that fitted the Airfix kit. There is a chapter in Osprey’s Modelling the de Havilland Mosquito for converting the Tamiya B Mk IV to PR Mk XVI that was also fitted with two-stage merlins. The Airfix nacelles are used as a basis but there is quite a bit of reworking involved.
