Jim, that’s some incredible work there! Did you use real wood? Or is that simply an amazing use of paint? With the open fuselage, it certainly takes a relatively simple looking aircraft and shows there’s more too it than wings and a seat! Please share you technique on the wood effect. Also, how did you get such a realistic effect on the mchine gun?
Awesome work, jim! [tup] I like the woodgrain on the prop and the spiral design on the wheels. It is also really nice to see some stringbags being posted here.
First-rate detailing…only in my dreams can I achieve that level and at that quality. Really nice work. I am impressed! [:)]
Mucker, this thing has a combination of materials, all the wing ribs and main wing spar are styrene. The leading edge and wing tips are balsa, there is also some metal mixed in there too. As for the machine guns, I painted a base coat of flat black, then painted on some MM gunmetal metalizer, the drybrushed it with silver.
Darwin, I just attacked this thing one subassembly at a time, and used a little common sense when tring to figure out how to get it together. O.K. so I spent hours contemplating this process ( sometimes I am a little low on common sense [:)]
thanks ruddratt, the woodgrain isn’t as hard as it would seem, doing these stringbags has actually let me refine the process to a two or three step process (tyhere is alot of wood on some of em).
I think a black and red checkerboard on the bottom of the upper wing would be sweet
