Monogram's 1/48 F-4J Phantom II Decal options ?

The local hobby store has Monogram’s kit No. RK 5813 , 1/48 scale F-4J Phantom II "Mig Ace’’ on special . The box shows a nice image of the U.S.Navy squadron VF-96 Fighting Falcons ; I was Wondering if there are other decal options included in the kit [ like different squadron markings for other units] Or do you just get one option. P.S I have read that Hasegawa’s offering is much better , but this kit is currently a 3rd of the price of Hasegawa’s !! Kind Regards Helo 53 [%-)]

Those are the only decal options that come with that kit.

There are dozens of aftermarket marking sheet available. If you want to do Navy aircraft you could probably find or put something together for every squadron that operated them. The Monogram kit isn’t that bad but is showing it’s age and at a third of the cost of Hasegawa, go for it. Raised panel lines if that is an issue. Good luck Joe

Thank’s for the help grant and joe . the reason I asked about the decals was that I have an early boxing of a Italeri RF-4B Phantom II in 1/48 scale ,but I have no decals for it . Aftermarket decals in the hobby stores around Sydney are priced at $25-$30.00 each. I was hoping that the monogram kit might of had some Marines markings as well so I could piece together some squadron markings using other spare decals I’ve saved . I realize this sounds like penny pinching , I was just trying to be a little economical ; After-all the kit is less than the cost of a decal sheet . At $20 .00 , I guess it’s too good a bargin to pass up !! Kind Regards Helo [%-)]

Try Fox One Decals (http://www.foxonedecals.com).

I’m not sure what shipping would cost, but decals are pretty lightweight.

Fox One makes some great Phantom decals for Marine planes.

www.greatmodels.com , www.meteorprod.com & www.squadron.com all have a large selection of aftermarket decals. There is always ebay as a last resort.

My advice with regards to the Italeri RF-4 is find a deep hole and bury it. That kit is a disaster. The pit is a disgrace, and it has fit issues out the wazoo. I spent a couple months wrestling with that thing and finaly convinced myself that there was just no point in continuing it. I suppose if you want to really work on your recovery skills go for it, otherwise don’t bother.

Try this one. I purchased a set from them of VF-92 Silver Kings for an F-4J. Great decals. Good luck.
