This is my MiG-15 from the old 1987 Monogram kit that also had an F-86 (my avatar pic). It is finished in Floquil Old Silver, with some panels done in other shades of silver or polishing to various degrees. It carries the markings of Russian Capt. Pavel Milauszkin. Flying for the North Koreans in 1952, Capt. Milauszkin was credited with 10 kills. The decals are the AeroMaster set, Korean War MiG Aces, no. 48-230. It’s pretty much OOB but the cannon barrels are hypodermic tubing from the vet supplies at the farm and ranch store. Of course, you’ll recognize the locale. I just have to find another venue for photos because even I’m getting bored with the Cameron Airport scene, it’s just so damned convenient at about 4 minutes from our house.[:D] Anyway, here she is with all her defects!

Tex, once again, another beautiful build! I think I need to go to the Railroad LHS that carries Floquil and pick up some of that Old Silver. I like the look of it.
Very nice looking Mig-15.I have that same kit coming in soon via eBay. What part of Texas are you in? I was born and raised in Pasadena (very close to Ellington AFB). Now living in central Virginia.

The MiG-15 has a real “sports car” look about it, especially posed beside its great rival, the F-86. But the little MiG has an elegance in the simplicity and efficiency of its design I think. I also have the Tamiya MiG-15 in the stash and want to paint in the green camouflage with “squiggly” lines sometimes seen on planes in that period.
Thanks Mikey! When I checked that out, that particular kit was sold out. But that’s ok; I decided I’d rather have a cannon-equipped MiG-17 after all. The “Fresco C” version is available at Sprue Bros. for $32 and change, while the Trumpeter MiG-19 is over $40! Yikes, that’s a bit much at this point. I’ve got so many kits ahead of me, I’ll never get them all built now. But, I just might have to snag that 17. Thanks for the tip again!
Thanks bsyamato! I left the canopy unattached so I could pose it either way. As one might imagine, the fit left a little to be desired no matter which way I went. In some of the pics I didn’t use, the canopy was slewed to one side, guess it got bumped a bit as I positioned the plane.[;)]
