Hans, you lucky ole soldier, what a Great piece of History. On the one photo, scan it - open up your photoshop and remove the #3 name, save and print a duplicate. That way you dont risk damaging the original and hide it behind the duplicate in the frame. Someday down the road perhaps one of your kids, neice or nephew or fan club members would want the original.
Outstanding idea! Danke…
On a side-note, I was sworn into the Confederate Air Force by General Tibbets in 1987 in Harlingen, TX (yes, we REALLY get sworn in at HQs. There’s a “New Colonel” ceremony every year at the CAF Airsho in Midland, where it’s located now) Ex-wife #3 was sworn in as well, but not until 1998, and she was sworn in right next to then Captain Paul Tibbets III, General Tibbet’s grandson and a B-2 pilot in the 509th… Ferebee went West not 6 months after I got that autograph, BTW…
As for “family heirlooms”, my daughter’s an Army Blackhawk pilot (currently in the Balkans) and has already called dibs on every piece of “aviation stuff” I own… Son’s an Army Artillery officer and is taking all me Redleg stuff… In fact, I think he’s already stolen some… I KNOW I’m short some brass canisters and some 105mm ammo crates… Little bassige…[;)]
What a great idea! I also followed that build. I recently aquired a older monogram kit of this AC and have been intimidated by it. A group build is just what I need to keep my courage up. Count me in!
Hans- Great pics there and to have them sighned is awesome!! Stuff like that just can’t be beat. I had my dio of the Doolittle raid signed by Col. R. E. Cole. He was Col. Doolittle’s co-pilot on that mission.
Whitebiker- That is the essence of this GB, Glad to have you aboard.
I think that when we start the GB I will move this over to the GB forum. Still projecting a new years day starting time.

Bump
Just keeping us around.
Just in case anyone’s missed it, here’s a rather helpful B-29 site…
http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/AWA1/001-100/walk059_B-29/walk059.htm
Just in case anyone needs to know: If you model the CAF’s Fifi, the turrets are not installed in the aircraft. The “guns” are just barrel jackets bolted into the turret “mushrooms”, as are the two tail stingers, so the turret basket won’t be hanging down into the flightdeck like an operational B-29.
Hey guys…I just caught onto this GB…didn’t know it was going on. I’m 97% done my Monogram B-29, she’s gonna be tight. It’s not perfect by any means, but it’s pretty good considering I’ve built about 7 planes in my life, and only 3 in the past year. I started it about 3 weeks ago. I detailed the shat out of the interior…even thought it’ll never be seen. I know it’s there…and after you see these pics…you’ll see it too.

Well, these are the only pics I’ve got so far even though the plane is pretty much done. I’ll post new pics tomorrow or monday. Have a good one guys.
Well guys, my B-29 is finnished, I don’t know if it will qualify for the GB since it was finished before the start date, but thats okay. I started a new thread with all the pics and descriptions. Come check her out!
Tiny- Very nice Super fort! You’re right we haven’t even started our GB yet. If you have another one you want to build feel free to join up, we start in Jan. Three weeks to finish, to me that’s amazing.

A June 2009 end date? I’m in. I want to do mine in an olive drab finish and mount it in an inflight display.
I might be able to join in this. I saw the Revell release of the 1:48 B-29 at hobby lobby the other day but didn’t wanna drop the $40 on it, but I’m sure a nice 40% off anything coupon will pop up between now and january and I’ll be able to pick it up, if that one will work for this GB.
Depending how I do in getting more references, I’d like to do either of these two Super Forts:

Aurora-7- Nice to have you on board. I think that I’ve seen one build up of this kit in olive drab, I’ll try to locate a link for you.
Wingform84- That’s the kit you will need for this GB. You have plenty of time to wait for that 40% off coupon or even hint it to someone as a Christmas present.

At what point will this be moved to the GB area? This is my first GB and I’m really excited about it, though I am a little nervous working on such a large and complicated build. I was wondering if there is any resource sharing before starting, things such as books, after market parts, potential problems etc. Thanks for listening to this rookie.
**Whitebiker-**I will move this over to the GB forum probably mid month. I wanted to give the aircraft forum members plenty of time to to see this GB and decide to join or not. After it gets moved there will be another six weeks before starting to give the GB forum time to respond. However this gives us plenty of time to gather info and supplies ( this will take alot of Paint), plan your build method and, yes, share resources with other people. BTW you don’t have to wait until the start date to talk and share resources.
