I restarted my Iron Man Kit, I have the left leg bend finished Its not as bent out as far as I wanted it, but I think it looks good I used epoxy putty to fill in the knee where I bent it, front and back. The blue tape is holding the upper hip so I can test fit the finished leg. And here’s the left leg test fit, I wanted to see if it would balance and it did [8D] but im going to need to slightly rase the left leg to the same height as the cardboard you see below the left leg
Glad to see you are back to this one, I was starting to wonder what had happened. It’s looking very good and I am really looking forward to seeing it finished.
I just about have Iron Man’s arm finished! Here you can see that I shortend the neck, But I think I need to add a little to the neck because I made it just a little to short[:I] At the moment I need to hold the left arm, for now! I still need to build the support for the arm, But it looks cool! Here’s a look at the arm, I need to add the wrist armor and I need to fill the open spots at the elbow that are now open after I changed the Left arm. I case your wondering how I have the upper and lower arm together with out glueing them together yet, with out the tape anyway? The strine I beam extends into the lower arm and it squezes around the hole and peg in the lower arm, its a goog tight fit! In this picture you see a slot in the upper arm I added an extention off the same strine I beam to help support the arm when I mount it.
My last shots, for now! On top of the helmet there’s a slot After looking at some pictures I notest that it extends all the way to the back, and that there’s also armor protecting the back of the neck
O my gosh! Sorry I havent kept up with my updates! I almost have my Iron Man kit finished! Here are my latest shots. Here you see finished left arm. Almost ready to glue it together, test fiting the left arm.
sorry this is so Big, but its hard to see the small details on the chest piece, I couldent find anything thiner than the index card I had so I used it for the cross bars. the rest is sheet strine and string.
Buliding almost finished, and now to fill some gaps. Arm attached, gaps filled, building finished. And now-
for a primer cote of steel, I tested the paint’s i’m going use on a scrap of sheet sterine. I figured out that if I paint a primer cote of steel under Stop Light Red metallic it looks great, But I just painted it on a part of the heltmet and it looks alittle light so I tested a mix of 3 parts of Stop light red and 1 part of Flat black. It looks a lot closer to the paint job form the movie. After reading in the instructions thay want you to paint Gold on certain area’s. I made a mix of 2 parts Gold and 1 pare Brass and I think it looks a lot closer to the Movie Iron Man.
I have finished the Red paint job on my Iron Man. I decited to paint a base cote of Aluminum under the Gold parts, because most of parts are still putty green.
The Red looked so good after I finished it I decited to paint the Gold face mask.
This is amazing! I’ve been waiting for this update. This is the best figure build yet! I hope this will be lighted. Thank you for sharing this with the rest of us.
Thank You. I would have loved to light up my Iron Man! But with all the modifying ive done and its a little late to do anything about it now.[:P] But I have some painting techniques that will make it look good.
I have finished my modifyed Iron Man [:D]. I used scale railroad ballest on my base to try to match the movie scene and I really think I nailed it.
After I had all of the ballest on and was looking good I rememberd there was ash or snow falling in the secne, I saved some from sanding the epoxy puddy I used to fill in some spots, and I used it to make the snow / ash on the gound. I made some brickes from some extra epoxy puddy I had left over. Last shot, you can see I added some detail under the left arm, It look good and it filled the hole that was there. Thank You for Your Time [:D] .
Yes it’s my son’s he wears it at special events and comic book conventions. We used it for his Iron man model at contest in February… He’ll have it at WonderFest this year…
