Modified Sherman G.B. Update!! (with progress pics!!)

So here we are, diving into our kits!! I have been rushing my kit a little, to get it done in time for the Talent show at our school. So far I have most of the construction finished. My next tasks is to paint the suspension systems, and install them on the sides. So far, the kit is going great!! The tracks, I’ve noticed have a very tight fit, but this may be helpful for fitting large portions of track onto the wheels.

So there’s the suspension and the hull.

Here’s the hull… note the painted jerry can on the back. I wanted to first paint everything and add it later, but as I see now, the holders for the jerry cans are too tight! Now I’m gonna put them all in, and paint the base colour around the crammed-in cans.

Here’s the turret, which I think is the nicest part of this tank (usually is) The machine gun’s ammo box was glued in too close to the gun, and the brackets that hold the gun won’t fit through the gap betweent the box and the gun. So, with that said, my gun can only aim up [B)](which was ok with me)!!!

Last but not least, is what it will look like put together (without paint, duh!). Because most tanks that I’ve seen had those huge spot lights smashed, I am going to add some brokem peices of clear plastic around the rim of the light, to give it that busted up effect. (they probably didn’t break that often, but hey! this one did OK??[;)])

With all this said, I am looking forward to hearing from the others (all two of you)!! Again, if anyone wants to join our group build, feel free to!

Cheerio!!

looks good. nice progress. still waiting to get my hedgerow cutters in the mail…

Yep!

Hey all!![:D] Just to let you know I didn’t forget about the build,my Firefly is drying as I write from it’s pre-prime wash. The dreaded tracks weren’t nearly as bad as I thought. Time consuming yes but not really a chore. Had a couple issues with the kit but nothing a little putty couldn’t cure. The bottom of my turrent fit horribly as did the transmission cover. Like I said nothing some putty couldn’t cure. Should have it primered tommorrow and spraying away this weekend!!![party]

Sounds good guys, keep it up!!

Hey all. Just to prove I didn’t forget about the build here are some picts of my Firefly. I still need to add some stowage but I haven’t decided which of the dozens of stuff I painted up to go on it. I did alot of research on thr Firefly and only used a few of the kit decals. It was interesting that besides painting the barrel or wrapping them up to camo the length, most crews painted out any white on the sides, stars, numbers and all. One book told of crews even smearing mud over any white until they found paint!!
I found a couple of picts of a Canadian Firefly with no markings on either side yet still had the air recognition panel on the back, I thought it was kinda unique.

Stug, The Firefly looks terrific!! Is it the Dragon kit?

Sorry it took so long to reply. Yes it’s the Dragon kit. It went together well, a few probs around the turrent, but not too bad. It was alot of fun building and researching!!

[:D]88,your kit is looking good so far, keep us posted.Stug61,that shermy looks great, did you say it will cunck marking ?nice job guys.[:D]
