Modern Russian Warship deck color

Does anyone know how to come up with the Russian warship redish-orange color? I’m going to try a 1/350 Udaloy. any other tips?

Those decks have always looked goofy to me. They look like a base of rust, a hint of flat red, and some flat white to fade might work(?). Good luck!

White Ensign Models has an enamel called Russian Navy Deck Red. I used it on the Dragon 1/700 Sovremenny and it looked OK.

Shipmate of mine would just use the Testor’s Leather straight from the bottle–this was on 1/2400 & 1/1200 kits, though.

I saw the paint offered by WEM but there was a notice that they cannot ship paint through the UK postal system. Did you get the paint through the mail from WEM or from a hobby shop?

I got it through the mail but I can’t remember from where. (This was a couple of years ago.) It may have been from WEM before they tightened up the postal restrictions.

I think “neglect red” is the shade you’re looking for.

Where are you located?

I’ve been told the red-brown stuff is a resin like material that drys with a rough surface and doesn’t burn easily.
