What color are the ammo cans used to hold rounds for the Rarden cannon? Are they Green or brown?
Green.
Thank you. I take it the standard Olive Green seen on most equipment?
Yes, just the same as other ammo tins. When where you thinking about placeing your vehicle. I assume to have pics, as we very really placed kit on the outside if we could avoid it, especially ammunition. If its in the invasion of Kuwait or Iraq then i guess anything goes, even extra ammo, but other than that i don’t think they would go above the full issue.
I built the original Academy Warrior kit as a Desert Storm/Granby vehicle. Unfortunately I do not have more than a handfull of reference photos in all my books. But I was planning on putting the ammo tins in the hull mesh stowage racks. Along with lots of tarps, water cans, and such. I have yet to get my hands on any Brit 1/35 rucks or other persomal gear.
I wouldn’t go over the top with kit on the outside, the British Army can be a bit funny about those things. Can’t have or vehicles looking scruffy while they are going to kill people.
Each Warrior is issued with 4 water Jerrycans, these normally go in the left rear bin. By hull mesh, i assume you mean the long storage bin on the right hand side. This would normally carry alot of tools that can’t fit in side. Crow bar, slave leads and so on. I also assume you have fitted the chobham armour, which reduces storage further meaning that other tools such as shovels would also be placed in there. As for personal gear, that would be very limited anyway. I have lived in a warrior for 4 weeks with a daysack and sleeping bag and thats it.
If anyone turned up at my warrior with a full bergan he would get my foot up his A**E, what ever his rank.
[(-D] Thanks for the firsthand info. My persnal experience in Mech with M-113s and M-901s was a bit different there. We tended to take EVERYTHING to the woods with us, so the tracks tended to look like gypsy wagons. I used to live with just a large US ruck (not as big as your bergans) while most guys carried a medium ruck plus duffle bag full of crap. Must be a US thing because all the tanks I saw were the same way. Yes I fitted the Chobham armor. I presume the vehicle is issued a tarp that is used for a sun shade in the field on occasion, along with camo nets and poles. If so, what color is the tarp and where is it stowed? Also where are the nets and poles stowed?
About the best source for Desert Storm-era British personal kit is probably the Dragon 1/35 Desert Rats set:

Also re-boxed by Italeri:
but both are OOP at the moment. There’s always ebay…
Cheers,
Chris.
Yes I have the Dragon set and the Warriors Warrior Crew set. The packs the Dragon guys re wearing, are those the daypacks?
