Have you ever watched the Food Channel–specifically the TV show Chopped? They give their chefs a collection of four ingredients, sometimes east to work with sometimes hard to work with, that they MUST incorporate into their dish. I’m interested in doing something like this with a group build. I propose one “ingredient” that must be in everyone’s builds and the first three respondents on the official GB page each propose one extra “ingredient” of their choice, too. These four ingredients thereafter MUST be incorporated into the builds of all those participating in the GB somehow. We have to keep the required ingredients cheap and not impossibly burdensome, but we can get imaginative. (Example: must incorporate something red, something from your backyard, etc. into the models and/or dioramas)
What do y’all think of this “Models Incorporated” idea?
That’s fun! I know they sell 1/35 pigeons and I saw model cats for sale, too. I’d like those kits! It’d be great to insert them into dioramas! Gotta love animals.
Since I am such a troublemaker, I’ll join in! Not sure if I have any octopus kits lying around though. I have a squid, but no octopus. [:P] Oh, and a friend gave me a couple of 1/35 cats. My friend likes to have animals in his vignettes. So far, he has had cats, dogs, sheep, a cow, birds, and a whole ice berg’s worth of penguins!
The model was the Soya, a Japanese resarch vessel. At 1/700 scale, representation, not replication, is enough to fool the eye. He made tiny “orange wedges” by slicing the end of a plastic rod at an angle, then painted the outside of the slices black and dotted one tip of the wedge yellow.
Once placed in groups next to the ship, I’ll be darned you would swear that they were penguins!
