There are no kits available, but it would seem to be pretty straightforward if I had a chassis to build on.
It falls after the M75 which was based on the M41, and before the M113.
It looks a lot like an M41…sorta, backwards.
Any knowledge to share?
It used the track and running gear of the M41. Not sure on the lower hull, but you could probably modify an M41 hull as well. There is lots of info on it, including scale drawings, so it shouldn’t be too hard to scratch up.

I just threw away my first attempt at this! I used .020 for the outer hull sides and top which proved way too thin and warped too much from the liquid glue. The article recommended .030 but my LHS was out and I foolishly went forward with .020. I got the basic hull shape but once it became 51% putty and 48% plastic I called it a loss but with valuable lessons learned. There’s always that 1% you can never be sure about.
Get your hands on the April 1998 FSM, it has a scratchbuilt M84 and provides 1/35 scale templates. I have found it to be available on eBay fairly consistently. Surprisingly the TM is also readily available on eBay and proves a great help. I then picked up AFV Club’s M41 suspension and their M41 individual track sets. The suspension set is harder to find but the tracks are easy. I also picked up the M48A3 turret but it is so much different I was going to use the basic MG turret from an M113 kit, along with the driver’s hatch and headlights. The M59 had sprocket in front and idler in read but also the #5 suspension arm is positioned backwards.
I plan on making a second go of it but that will have to wait as school kicks back up in a couple weeks. I am trying to get my LAV-150S completed before that misery returns and I am back to nose in books and ten-page papers. I also find my rum intake increases as the semester progresses.

For now I picked up a pair of Tamiya M41’s on eBay for a total of $ 25.00 shipped.

When I was still just a kid, the father of one of my classmates salvaged what was left of an old M-59 from a rancher’s shelterbelt. How it wound up in rural Montana is anyone’s guess, but it was towed to my friend’s yard, where his father debated restoring it to running order. After the first battle against the machine with BB guns, a lot of us kids lost the privilege of playing on or anywhere near the old APC. It sat under a tarp over the winter, but by spring, it had been stripped of just about everything and was nothing more than the drive train, suspension, floor pan, and engine. The thoughts of restoration went out the window when the guy realized that he could make money on parting it out or selling the metal for scrap.My days as a mechanised infantryman came to an end with the sale of what was left of the old APC later on. After having seen one come apart, I’m certain to enjoy watching one come together! Sign me up for your WIP!

I have ordered up two Tamiya M41’s. At the least I get two TC figures, a bunch of parts and some decals.
I also ordered the FSM issue on the M84 per Gino’s direction, from FSM no less.
On the TC cupola, it sounds as though it may have been the same as the M113, which is NOT the same as the M48 A nothing one. Or it may have been the same as the A nothing, and not…etc.
Imagine that KT, a Cold War relic.

OK my friend, you’re in luck… sort of. The April 1998 issue of FSM had a scratchbuilt M84 Mortar carrier, the cousin of the M59. In that article are included 1/35 templates for the M84. The main difference will be the top plate, and of course, the interior. But all the basics are there. The guy in that article used the M41 as a starting point.
Articles like that are why I saved my old issues of the magazine.
Keep the 4 Deuces… you can do an M84 in addition to the M59.
BTW, Hobby Lobby carries the Tamiya M41s pretty regularly. At 40% with their phone app coupon they are dirt cheap.

Those APC’s are so interesting. The side skirts flipped up. The riders seem to have both body armor and camo helmet covers.
Yes, thats the WWII pattern helmet covers and the Korean War era body armor.

The native image is very low-rez (on purpose). You are meant to log in (and probably mkae a donation) to get the original 2073x2797 image, which claims to be a vectore drawing but does not tell us the format.
As the image is shaded, I suspect this is png or jpg, and not, say, dxf, dgn, or a similar format.
Looking deeper, you have to buy “credits” and you need varying amounts of “credits” to purchase the images, suggesting that A, you wind up purchasing credits you don’t need, and B, they are using a notion of “barter” to skirt IP purchase rules.
