ROBERT
Please, ask yourself, do you REALLY need all caps. And if your caps lock is stuck on, hold down the shift key.
Is that puppy scratchbuilt? How big is it going to be?
Lee
It’s all scratchbuilt. It will be almost 6 feet 8 1/2 inches long with a wing span of 7 feet 3 1/2 inches long with wings extended full forward and 4 feet 5 1/2 inches swept back to 68 degrees.
Robert
Whose garage you going to park this baby in?
This cat will be mounted on a wall in the living room along with my 1/144, 1/72 1/48, and 1/32 scale toms.
On the wall? Must be some wall. That model has to be quite heavy I would think. Hope you post some pics when done and mounted.
Lee
Hhhhmmm … now you got me thinking. Would my wife allow me to hang a 1/10 scale Sherman on the living room wall?
I’m thinking probably not.
I’m thinking I’m not even going to ask.
I’m thinking the laughter that would resonate from our humble little apartment would disturb the neighbours for many an hour.
I’m thinking that I couldn’t handle that much rejection all at one time.
Gotta see that!
Hey shermanfreak-how 'bout a Sherman/coffee table
Oh thanks Derek … now you got me thinking again. LOL
well use scale calulator: www.hyperscale.com then click refrence the look for scale calc
My wife suggested that I mount it on the living room wall. I need information on the TF30-P-412 turbofan, real dimensions, fan and turbine blade pitch, diameters etc. Any navy tomcat tweekers or any one else willing to help out here? I also need real dimensions on cockpit layout and the Martain Baker GRU-7A ejection seats. Wanna get buisy with this project!
happy next project and presant one also, tomcatmodeler
Just a “heads up”. The P&W TF30-P-412 engine was only used on the F-14A. Later tests were done with P&W TF30-P-414 and GE F110-GE-400 engines and the GE won. all subsequent F-14 models (B,C, and D) use GE F110-GE-400 engines.
When all else fails, go to the manufacturer. I know someone that contacted Martin-Baker to get information on seats. They sent him some engineering drawings. Contact the engine makers and see if you can get drawings on the engines. I have found them to be very helpful in their desire to help modelers.
Derek,
Thanks for the info. I got a book on that. i"m modeling the F - 14 A
Come to Missouri and visit our history. I"ve been to wisconson. Thanks for the invite though.

I work for Pratt & Whitney…a coworker is an ex GE engine tech.Let me see if I can dig up some info thats not to secretive…you know companies these days.

Hi Vermont.
Thanks for your interest in trying to help me out. I havent heard anything from Pratt and Whittney yet. I sure would appreciate any info you can dig up.
Robert
I finely found a co-worker that worked on turbofan engines in the ARMY. It’s not exactly what I need but it’s a start. Either the manufacturers are ashamed of their products or realy selfish. Anyway I’ll get my 1/10th scale engine built one way or another!
