I don’t get down to the Hobby shop much so I don’t get news of any shows and/or contests. I don’t think I have anything “worthy” to enter into a contest but it would be nice to view the work of others. I even wondered about any sort of clubs in my area.
Nothing is scheduled in the Denver area right now. There are 3 IPMS chapters in the Denver area, Go to http://www.ipmsusa.org/ and click in the chapters for meetings and times. I’m Pres. of the Front Range chapter, and chapter contact as well. Sometimes HobbyTown has contests, but I haven’t heard of any recently. There was a Regional contest in Colo Springs last summer. It was a very well attended show, lots of models.

The CoMMieS are having their 1st show in February, I believe. Planning on being there myself.
Here’s a link:

There you go. The chapter contact is always the last to know.[zzz] It’s the CoMMies revenge on me for not attending their cell meetings for these many years now. In spite of having rice krispy treats.[dinner] How about a heads up, guys.[alien]
Hey, Denver Folks…
I live in downtown Denver and just got back into the hobby. I was thinking, maybe we(us in this forum) should try to arrange an impromptu something-or-other; y’know, put faces to names and all that…?
Well, I manage an impromptu with guys I know at the Aurora Colpar hobbies everytime I go there. Maybe 4, sometimes only 1. Usually from the local IPMS clubs, but this could be cool also. Colpar is like a second home. AAhhh, isn’t that sweet. I don’t know how many forum folk are in Denver, or even if there is a crossover. It seems that a lot of local club guys don’t come to this site, or any, on regular basis. It’s interesting, it seems that a lot of these raging issues on the forums are not seen outside of here. I mention them, and they just kind of roll their eyes. As you can see, in all the time I’ve been here, I have very few postings. I think that most of us prefer face to face discussions. No misunderstandings that way. I know I do. It’s a lot more fun as well. Most of the club guys that do go online, usually look other places, and to look for some reference item, and then tell me about the bad experiance they had.
I think that this idea, while commendable, would be akin to hearding cats. If you could find the cats.[(-D]
I can be found this coming Thursday, Oct. 15, at the HobbyTown at 92nd and Wadsworth in Westminster at 7pm in the back room doing our little Front Range IPMS meeting. Bring in some your kits and join the conversations. It’s a real small group and very informal.[#welcome]

I have a love/hate relationship with Colpar: love what I can find there but hate it because I always seem to find my wallet to be much lighter when I leave there. I live a short distance from that Hobbytown and though I seemed to have missed the meeting a few days ago, I may have to consider a future time. What exactly takes place at your gatherings? My only problem is that meeting new people and groups are not my strong suit…so I will have to think.[:I]
We usually have a small business meeting, what’s going on locally or in IPMS, any sponsorship requests, stuff like that. Then a show and tell about your recent builds. We had 5 members last time, which is smaller than usual, but 8 is high. Most of us have known each other for years, but new faces are welcome. It’s best if you have something to show off. After the meeting we usually go out for coffee and desert and a local place. As I say, it’s a small club, we don’t concentrate on one subject, mostly planes and tanks though. I do a ship on occansion. The Christmas time meeting is a gathering at my place, not far away, then it’s more of a party, and a chance to eat and meet, and paw though the stash in the basement. My experiances have been that the more you come to the meetings, the more you get to know us and become friends with us. For what it’s worth.

Hopefully, this Christmas meeting/party, won’t have the water heater go out before, that was more fun than I needed. But the new one seems to be doing well.
I’m a member of the Rocky Mountain IPMS chapter. We meet at the Longmont Hobbytown USA the second Tuesday of each month 6-8 PM. Come any time!
Don’t know of any contests coming up in the area, but Colpar Hobbies in Denver has stuff up when there’s one and so does the Longmont Hobbytown. Will try to remember to keep you posted.
