Model Master German Colours

I like the MM line of paints. My hobby store recommended the following for 3 german three tone paint sceme:

  • MM 2095 Panzer Dunkelgelb (looks a bit dark, maybe mix a bit of white in?)
  • MM 2097 Panzer Olivgrun (pretty light green?)
  • MM 2096 Schokoladenbraun (way too dark of a brown)
  • MM 2100 RAL 8002 Signalbraun (looks too light of a red/brown

Any advice on what others have tried in the MM line of paints for german paint schemes?

I believe I had already mentioned that I use the first three on your list for all of my post-early 1943 German builds except in those instances where the colors are not appropriate. I do not personally modify the colors in any way (other than thinning), but understand that other modelers don’t like the basic color tones provided.

As has been discussed on this board many, many times, the actual colors present on three-tone German vehicles will vary dramatically depending on several factors. These include, but are not limited to, the climate, the liquid medium used to mix the color paste, the time since the vehicle was painted, etc. The precise colors used on a particular model are almost entirely a personal preference unless there is written historical documentation of the colors used. Even then, color “descriptions” are often impossible to cross-reference to an “exact” color.

Just my 2 cents…

Robert is pretty correct as we all know. My experience just tells me to go with what looks appropriate to my eyes. Go with your gut feelings.
