Model Masochism... OR new kit.

Up until now, here’s the extent of my biplane rigging experience:

…and here’s what I just got in the mail today.

'Nuff said.

Glutton for punishment! [:D]

Yep, whips and chains are your next step. LOL!

That’s gonna hurt…

All those wires and a Maqette kit to boot…Zoweee! But it is a neat subject. I wouldn’t use the Elmers to put it together though, Mike.[:D]

Yowza! By the time you finish that one, you’ll be curled up in the corner sucking your thumb!

I get a headache just looking at it. Good Luck [:)].

Regards, Rick

My only other choice is the ICM kit, and although neither kit is very accurate when it comes to building a “correct” Ilya Muromets (the upper fuselage gun is not right for this version, for example), the ICM suffers from tail surfaces that are WAY too small. I didn’t feel like fabricating new ones, so Marquette was the way I went.

I would also like to try a different rigging method than I used last time. Hopefully it will be a bit cleaner than drilling holes every which way, although I KNOW it won’t be any easier.

Ah, well. We’ll burn that bridge when I get there.

I hope.

Im with Rick on this one, but mine is more of a eyeball headache.

Don’t burn the bridge, Lucien, burn the model [:D] Seriously, that’s what my then-girlfriend said when I got my first 1/700 ship kit and was moaning about the small size. I persevered with the kit, got rid of her, and feel like I came out ahead in the end!

Please have your sanity checked periodically by a professional during this project. You will probably be, “around the bend” or “over the edge” by the time you finish. We will come visit you at the asylum.

Just be sure to bring cookies. [BG]

What scares me the most is attaching that upper wing… I’ve built two biplanes (An ill-fated Avro 504 along with the R-5) and this was ALWAYS the hariest part.
