I don’t think that there is a 1/32 F-1.
The only 1/32 mirage that I know of is the mirage III old Revell, it’s currently beeing reeisued.
I always understood that the III and the F-1 had a common fuselage, so with a lot of scratchbuilding you could make one.
Sorry Giobosco, I have never heard of a 1/32 Mirage F-1, not even a vacform kit. Converting the Revell Mirage III or 5 (variations on the same kit I’ve seen) would be rather futile since the airframes are very different. The nicest F-1 around is the 1/48 Esci one, currently available as a reissue from Italeri. Fit and engraved panel lines are good, but you may want to add detail to the cockpit. I built mine ages ago as a South African F-1 AZ and it’s still one of my favorite models (battered as it is from numerous moves [:D]). If you need more info, I’d be glad to help.
Hi Filibert and all,
Thanks for the replies. Yep, I have converted the Italeri kit to the F1-AZ of the SAAF as well, adding cockpit, scratchbuilding the nose etc. The fuselages are totally different, the F1 has the wings above it. I was just wondering if there was a 1/32 because it would make an excellent model. I have the 1/32 Mirage IIIE which can be converted (with a heck of a lot of work) to the South African Cheetah (very similar to the Israeli Kfirs).
Well we would have to hassle some manufacturers then…maybe if there is a lot of interest someone would mold an F1 in 1/32??? some good soul perhaps??
Thanks again and regards

I remember sending a couple of email suggestions to Trumpeter about a year ago, when they were apparently collecting information to decide on which models to kit. I might have mentioned a 1/32 Draken and Mirage F-1 [8D]. Mind you, I have no illusions the folks at Trumpeter would listen to me, but maybe a few thousand others mentioned the F-1 too? To say it in David Bowie’s words:
I won’t pretend faith never works

Converting a IIIE to a Cheetah is a big task indeed: big respect if you pull it off. I’ve seen those 1/32 Mirage kits as -5 and (I thought) IIIC versions. If you say you have a IIIE, I probably should have a better look, because the IIIC might have been a fata morgana then (radically different engine, no under-nose fairing etc) [:o)]. I know it’s a really old kit, which has kept me from buying one until now, but would you say it’s an accurate kit? I mean, with a replacement cockpit, would it look the part or are there major shape problems? I’m asking because they have been available cheap on and off from a LHS.
Oh, and do post a pic of your F-1AZ if you can: maybe we can spark some interest here![8D][:D]
