my name is Florian, I’m in my mid 30’s and from Germany.
In 2018 I started my journey into miniature painting (mostly Warhammer), but in 2023 a friend asked me about my thoughts on scale models.
My last and only real exposure to these were when my grandpa bought me Revell models as a kid.
Still, I was intrigued, since I’ve always been a sucker for AFV, military vehicles and warplanes.
After browsing a while in one of his Tamiya brochures, I was set on building a Jagdtiger.
I pretty much never dive unprepared into a topic, so naturally I started watching videos on YouTube and decided on a first project.
So I started my first build, a Takom Jagdtiger in 1/35 scale at around that time and only finished it about a year later due to personal issues that led to a complete hobby stop for nearly 6 months.
Here is a picture of my first diorama; some of you might recognize where I got the inspiration from:
After that I’ve dived deeper into armor, especially German and built several smaller and smaller scale projects like The Panther G late from Das Werk, a Jagdpanther in 1/35 (still in progress) and a Vespid Models Tiger I early prod. (1/72 also in progress).
During last year I also started on recording videos for YouTube about the painting process of the Panther commander and the Vespid Tiger - you can find me there under the same username, as well as on Instagram.
I’m looking forward to discussions and sharing the joy for the hobby here!
Thank you! Yes, I absolutely agree - both sides of the hobby compliment each other very well.
However, I must admit that I find the scale modeling community more pleasant to interact with.
You can be both-a miniature painter and a scale modeler. I do both; painting the kit figures with my models led me eventually to collecting toy soldiers, casting and painting them. And building models at the same time.
Thank you! Appreciate that! As I said, I have a few videos on YouTube and pictures on Instagram already, but I will create a few posts here from time to time to upload my stuff
Great job on the figure! I’ve been working to improve mine for years so I started painting miniatures. I started with WWII soldiers and now I’m working on fantasy to help me learn color and color modulation.
Whichever I work on is full of frustrations but also is fun!
Thank you! If you are interested (shameless plug) I have two videos about 1/35 miniatures on YouTube.
I’m not generating any income from these videos currently, so there shouldn’t be any ethical problems with sharing
There will be additional miniature painting videos in the near future; i’m currently working on posting videos at least twice a month.
Maybe one, or both can help you with these endeavors.
