miniart T-80 light tank WWll finished pics

Hey guys first a big thanks to everyone for the warm welcome in the hello thread it is nice to see many of the old faces still here i havent had much time to get back on this past week because of the weather and trying to finish up work for the year (cold past 2 weeks for roofing here in east TN) i did manage to finish up this little guy which i started almost a year ago and had about 40% of the construction done these are cool little kits but can be fiddly i added the eduard set for the grills and fenders but beyond that i just wanted to get it together and get painting, fortunately i had cleaned my paint brush well the last i used it so everything was good to go and it didnt take long to get back into it.

The basecoat was tamiya nato green which after the base was down i lightened with yellow and did some fading here and there, the weathering was done with lots of oil washes and streaking and stuff along with a ton of pigments thrown around basically i was just having fun getting back into it its easy to forget things in a year but it soon comes back.

The only thing im not overly thrilled about is the pics i had to use an older camera (kid lost the good one) but at least they prove i done something

The pics wont show in preview so if they are not there well bugger…

Not the T-80 I had pictured in my head before viewing your pics. Nice job on a cool little rig, never saw one before. Thanks for sharing!

It’s so odd that whenever I see something you’ve built, I wanna build it too.

welcome back,looks real good.

Just like riding a bike. You didn’t forget how build a sweet little tank. Nice.

Very nicely done Ron [Y].

Regards, Rick

Excellant job.How is the kit quality?

What is that wrapped around the exhaust pipe?I’ve never seen anything like that before.

Looks like you did a great job on it. It is a WWII Soviet/Russian T-60 Light (Scout) Tank though, not a T-80.

T-60 Light Tank

Looks Great Biffa, i pictured the larger more modern tank before viewing this also. Excellent finnish you have done on this. They dont get much better than that.

Cheers Ron, Andy.[Y]

Looks like a T80 to me?

Awesome job there, I’ve always loved these little Soviet light tanks. I’ve got a Zvevda T60 partially built that is in dire need of a track transplant but is other wise finished. Maybe I’ll get it done now after your T80.

Erik

What is the difference between theT-60 and the T-80 then? They look the same to me.

Nice job, I like the pipe wrap on the exhaust

Bob

I remember when you started in on this one Ron and it’s great to see it completed. Doesn’t look like you’ve lost any of your abilities over the last year for sure. [Y] [B]

Thanks guys for the comments its always appreciated and definatly nice to hear from you doods again i apologize for dragging you modern armour guys in here with confusing russian tank designations  the T-80 light tank was basically a T-70 light tank with a larger 2 man turret and about 75/80 were built towards the wars end here is the box art, thanks again all.

Thread title edited for a bit more clarification.

Hi TD the kit is a bit fiddly i had a few small bits break while cutting them off the sprue (grab handles etc…) and the tracks and wheels are also fiddly but the kit fits great and with some patience shouldnt present too much problem the detail is good the grills being the biggest let down and really the only thing that needs replacing in my opinion, the wrap on the exhaust is supposed to be asbestos heat tape of some kind i believe, i used aluminum foil strips for this in retrospect i would use something else if i did it again, this vehicle actually comes with some panels that cover the pipes but i elected to leave them off just for personal preference.

Hi Gino the T-70/T-80 was bigger and heavier than the T-60 with thicker armour and two Gaz-202 engines to the T-60’s one the most obvious difference being the extra road wheel, the T-60 was an upgraded T-40 [:|] confused i am.

Thanks for the explanation Ron. I think…[*-)]

I’ll just stick to modern, ex-Soviet armor. It seems much easier to ID anyways.

Hi Ron buddy. It might have been awhile, but you haven’t lost your touch. I really like the color modulation on the fenders.

It’s great to have the Biffa Workshop up and running again!

It is looking great.
I very much like the details, such as the exhast covers and straps on the back of the turret.
Gongratualations on a fine job with the running gear as well, it is extremly fidelyindeed but yours still look like a tanks running gear.
Mine just looked like warped plastic…

Thank you for sharing and most welcome back!

Very Best Regards
Johan

Biffa great to see that everything is okay and that the factory is back in buisness and putting out quality work! Just dont keep us waiting so long for the next one[;)]
