I have been cleaning off my bench of old projects and have finished these two 1/72 kits. The first is a Vickers Mk VIb light tank in a “Caunter Scheme”, and the second is a Crusader Mk VI in the sand and black pattern.
The Mk VI has always been a favorite of mine, it is like the Mini Cooper of WWII tanks. Designed for recon duties it was forced into work not fitted for its type. Many consider it superior to its contemporary, the German Mk I panzer. Some of the pictures are out of focus, sorry about that the subjects are so small for the cameras I have.
The Crusader with its Christie style suspension gave it a sporty appearance. Its armor was too light for a main battle tank and it suffered from this and the limitations of the 2pdr. main gun.
Nicely done. I’ve never been a big fan of 1/72,1/76 or 1/48 scales as far as armour goes, but these are spiffy examples.
BTW, many makers are now offering armor in what is advertised and packaged as 1/72nd scale. I think 1/76nd is still the traditional, favored scale in the U.K.
Thank you all for the comments. These were good practice pieces.
CDNtanker25 - I am still trying to imporve my skill set with washes and dry brushing. I will try to improve some of the details on these.
The scale on the Mk VI is 1/76, had to check on the box. Its the JB Models kit from about seven years ago. I added the sand shields from plastic stock and the rearview mirror from copper wire and a PE tree. The pennants were from candy bar foil. With the three others in my stash, I might make a Mk VIc in the Malta pattern as well as another desert version and an France 1940 vehicle.
