Monktrade and I both finished our Stugs, His is a DLM version and mine is the Tamiya version, as always comments are welcome, I already posted pics of mine once but now they can be compared.

That’s some pretty good work there, from both of you, Guys…! I really like the beaten up look of Monktrades (how was it done by the way?), and other than the even number of figures on both bases (something I’m quite weird about, sorry!), I like them both very much.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I’d like to thank miller for coming up with the idea as I’d say it was rather more of a motivational tool than a competition per se! We had fun talking about the different kits and what we were going to do with them.
Mine is the DML late G, which I attempted to backdate a little more. I removed the coax MG, and the remote MG, as well as using the earlier rubber return wheels. I based it on a Stug from the Squadron Signal book on page 34 which has that unique front skirt with the lighter stroked hand painted on it.
I’m not in a position to buy PE right now, so all my fenders/mudguards, the schurzen and the tie downs are made by hand (as if thats not totally obvious [;)] ) Someone mentioned the weathering. I use artist chalks, drybrushing, pencil, filters and alternating coats of clear coat and laquer to seal in different levels of wear. I’m hopeless with the camera, the pictures of my figures make them look even crappier than they already are, so Miller’s trying to help me out some more as my photo consultant! I appreciate any suggestions or guidance, and look forward to (hopefully) keep sharing work as I am kicked in the butt to keep building. [:)]

Oh yeah, I forgot, the mud. LOL…ummmm, I don’t know if I should admit this, but I was in an experimentation mode one morning while I was doing dishes. I went to clean the coffee pot, and thought, what the hell. The mud on the Stug is a mixture of the used coffee grounds and white wood glue. The mud on the base is celluclay and railroad filler painted with acrylics. I hit the low spots with rubber cement which gives it a nice gloss IMO, and looks like settled water.
coffee huh , wow i would have never tought. it looks awsome , i wonder how it will stand the test of time though. i’d be a bit worried it would turn bad after a few weeks/months, maybe my fears are unfounded too, i’ll definitively give it a try none the less thanks for the tip
